Boehner: The Democrats' Budget is "A Job Killer, Plain and Simple" GOP Leader Says Budget Will Increase Taxes on "Small Businesses, Familiy Farms, Middle-Class Families, Retirees, Charities, Everyone with a 401(k), and Anyone Who Flips on a Light Swith

Washington, Feb 26 - During his on camera press briefing today, House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) underscored his concern about the budget proposal released today by the White House, saying it is a “job killer” and that “small businesses, family farms, middle-class families, retirees, charities, everyone with a 401(k), and anyone who flips on a light switch is going to pay higher taxes under this plan.” Republicans want to work with the President and Democrats in Congress on a responsible budget that helps our economy recover without piling more debt on future generations. But this budget takes the opposite approach. As Boehner said, “the era of big government is back, and Democrats want you to pay for it.” Key excerpts of Boehner’s interview follow:

BOEHNER ON HOW THE ADMINISTRATION’S BUDGET WILL DESTROY AMERICAN JOBS, INCREASE TAXES ON SMALL BUSINESSES AND EVERY AMERICAN:

“Middle class families are making sacrifices and cutting their expenses and it’s time for Washington to do the same. We need to do that by stopping out-of-control wasteful spending. The American people know that we can’t tax and spend our way to prosperity. It’s just the formula it appears the President’s budget is relying on. The era of big government is back and Democrats are asking you to pay for it. The Administration’s plan I think is a job killer, plain and simple. And it raises taxes on all Americans while we’re in the middle of a recession. If you look at small businesses, family farms, middle-class families, retirees, charities, everyone with a 401(k), and anyone who flips on a light switch is going to pay higher taxes under this plan. The government tried to raise taxes once before in a recession. It was in 1932 and all it did was make our recession a whole lot worse.” (AUDIO)

BOEHNER COMMENTS ON THE ADMINISTRATION’S HEALTH CARE PROPOSAL AND THE “CAP-AND-TRADE” JOB KILLER:

“Everyone agrees that all Americans ought to have access to affordable health insurance. But increasing taxes in the middle of an economic recession, especially on small businesses is not the way to accomplish that goal. And so we’ve got real concerns about his plan on cap and trade. Let’s just be honest and call it a carbon tax that will increase taxes on all Americans who drive a car, who have a job, who turn on a light switch, pure and simple. And if you look at this whole budget plan, they use this carbon tax as a way to fund all their big government ideas. But even if you include all of that in this budget, there aren’t enough tax revenues to fund all of the issues that he’s outlined, and priorities he’s outlined in this budget.” (AUDIO)

BOEHNER URGING PRESIDENT OBAMA TO VETO DEMOCRATS’ WASTEFUL $410 BILLION “OMNIBUS” SPENDING BILL:

“On Tuesday, the President called on Congress to make fiscal responsibility a priority, and Republicans agree. That’s why it is ironic that on the very next day House Democrats would pass a $410 billion appropriation bill, eight percent above last year’s levels, and including some 9,000 earmarks. I think we just ought to admit we’re broke. And we can’t continue to pile debt on the backs of our kids and grandkids. The President campaigned against wasteful spending and he ought to veto this bill.” (AUDIO)

Job killer, eh? More like a nation killer, but then again, that may have been the original intent of its authors.

So, Boner, what are you going to DO about it? Have you punished Specter, Collins, and Snowe for their betrayal of the party? Or will you let them vote for this bill, too?

Boehner: The Democrats' Budget is "A Job Killer, Plain and Simple"

Sorry, but a press release has no impact whatsoever. May as well bite your pillow and scream. Mr Boehner, raise some money and start running national TV ads and then say what you have to say.

Any Republican who votes for this monstrous bill should be excoriated loudly.

He has no power to do so. Specter, Collins, Snowe don’t have to answer to Boehner.

Boehner is in the House, not the Senate.

Senators Specter, Collins and Snowe are McConnell’s responsibility. McConnell should tell all three that if they vote for another big spending bill, he will remove them from all their committee assignments.

What a position for a voter to be in.

On one hand, the republicans deserve a lot of blame for violating their promise to those who voted for them by becoming free spending democrats instead of living by their claims of fiscal responsibility.

In doing so, they lost not just a majority, but lost all branches of government, their integrity and credibility and gave us Pelosi, Reid and now Obama.

Now they are the ones who are supposed to save us? I hope that there are enough conservative, semi-trustworthy Republicans left when finally Obama has finally pissed off enough Americans that we start to look at them seriously again.

I agree with you. Where’s my Flat Tax? How about a Fair Tax? How about a discussion about taxes? Why is the Dept. of Education more powerful than 8 years ago? Why is government bigger than ever. Why didn’t we start drilling for oil 6 years ago?

Republicans never circled the wagons to protect their president. They hung each other out to dry. They hung us out to dry. They don’t need conservatives. They told us so. I think principled, patriotic, capitalist, constitutionalist republicans should move out of the party and start their own party. The party of Reagan has lost credibility.

Rep. Boehner, the following needs to be said from the floor and repeated as often as possible.

If the government gives $1200 in tax credits to Henrietta Hughes, will she turn around and employ my laid-off neighbor?

Stop punishing the successful among us!

Boehner, when your party adopts the 10th amendment movement as part as it's national platform, and supports the spirit of the "tea parties"-- then, let's talk.

Until then, your statist big government party is little different from there's--they just get you to the collapse of America, faster.

““Everyone agrees that all Americans ought to have access to affordable health insurance.”

Realizing I’m targeting one aspect of the article, I want to state that I haven’t any thread stealing ambition in doing so. It’s just that I was thinking about Health Care this morning, and I want to run this by my associates here at FR.

“Health Care Insurance” is something we’ve all heard/read about for my Gosh! seemingly forever.

There was a time we didn’t have such “Insurance”. Folks got sick, went to the doctors and paid the doctors how they could. It worked. IIRC The only problems were when someone would unfortunately contract, or be wounded, injured, etc. catastrophically, but in many, or most cases the problems of payment could be worked out.

Along comes Government IIRC around early 1970’s, Ted Kennedy specifically I believe, and Voila! Medicaid which of course is Government with “strings attached” regulation. (I’m obviously going by memory here which is risky)

I’m thinking of all the money, over all the years that has gone to Insurance, but never used it.

What I’m seeing is one horrendous waste of individual’s capital flying out the door for no reason other than for control, which is POWER by the Leftist mindset in our Government.

I can not comprehend as to why Government is involved in our private, personal, individual health care at all other than for the Leftist perspective that we are a collective of taxpayers, and as such we taxpayers to the system are assets the Leftist Government must control our health, be it our weight, habits, risks, IOW our Freedoms to ensure we produce the taxes necessary for them to maintain the herd.

It would seem to me that getting the Government to “H” out of our Health would be far healthier.
