Had the public (and specifically Jewish voters, who voted overwhelmingly for Barack Obama) known that Obama would appoint the Saudi-funded, Israel-bashing, analytically-disabled Chas Freeman to a key national security position, I wonder if he would have cleared the bar of acceptability for commander-in-chief. But the appointment has indeed occurred. (And would human rights activists have thought twice about electing a president who picked some who declared that the Chineses biggest mistake with regard to the Tienanmen Square massacre was the failure to intervene on a timely basis to nip the demonstrations in the bud?)
And as for those friends of Israel on the left who looked Obama in the eye and got a sense of his soul, do they join in on Marty Pertezs mea culpa? Well, it does appear that Obama appointed someone who is quintessentially an insult to the patriotism of some [sic] many of his supporters. Moreover, we have placed someone in a key national security role whose analysis was purchased by the House of Saud and whose contribution to Middle East discourse includes such gems as: For its part, Israel no longer even pretends to seek peace with the Palestinians; it strives instead to pacify them. Palestinian retaliation against this policy is as likely to be directed against Israels American backers as against Israel itself. (Remarks to the Washington Institute of Foreign Affairs, May 24, 2007)

Never.
They don't give 2 hoots about Israel and they vote accordingly.
Jewish Americans have done so much to improve the lot of blacks in this country, and have been kicked in the teeth for it repeatedly. Yes, this is indeed a race thing--Jews have supported blacks, esp. in Chicago, and black leaders have taught their constituents that this is the Jews being uppity, or trying to buy their friendship, when in fact Jews feel a kinship with and sympathy for them.
It's never reciprocated, so why do they insist on voting for this guy against their own interests?
The famous motto for Jews--"Never forget"--should be updated to "When will we learn?"
Obama could have campaigned on a platform of finishing what Hitler started and the majority of American Jews would have still voted for him.
What makes anyone think that most Americans Jews give a crap what happens to Israel?
Good discussion of race relations! Doin’ the Holder thing! I like it!
Probably when the last of them are marched into the ovens.
Jews are so in love with their "liberalism". They consider themselves so sophisticated and better than everyone else. It is like they are destined to committ cultural suicide!
My own experience is that there is really very little as unsophisticated as liberalism. It is puerile to the extreme.
Agreed but it does permit the holder of such ideas an aura of moral superiority because it’s stated goals sound incredibly noble. It’s not until you pull the covers back that you see the nasty statist underpinnings.
There too busy being angry at the Pope for lifting an ex-communication on some irrelevant, old, kook bishop.
Spend some time in Palm Beach or Broward Counties and you’ll end up pulling your hair out about these folks. I’m glad I live in Central FL. People here have a more rational world view, for the most part.
Yes, they would have still backed Oprah’s Choice, for they are Democrat and socialist-oriented to the core. It goes back to HST recognizing Israel in 1948. Similarly, blacks are Democrat to the core. It was cemented with LBJ signing the 1964 Civil Rights Act. It’s all either group knows or thinks it needs to know.
In other words, if the American sheeple are not at least as dumb as rocks, their little minds are as porous as grains of sand!

They would have voted for him again. American Jews don’t know any better. They are liberals first, Jews second and pro-Israel last.
Then again, many liberal Jews had parents who came here from Europe and the first thing they were exposed to was Socialist Democrat candidates promising them the world for their vote.
Jennifer:
Interesting article but basically a lot of huffing and puffing over nothing.
Lost month, Commentary itself published an analysis of the Jewish - Democrat love affair over a couple of election cycles - there exists absolutely no evidence to support any idea that the majority of Jewish voters will ever pull anything except the Demo lever. Quite the contrary, the historical analysis showed nothing, not abortion, not anti-Israeli comments, not kissing Arafat’s wife after she says Jews kill Arab babies, not pro-Palestinian subversive activity, not blocking Jewish refugees, nothing will separate the American Jews from the Democrats.
As long as a “D” is next to the name, lines will form to cast their votes.
“Spend some time in Palm Beach or Broward Counties and youll end up pulling your hair out about these folks. Im glad I live in Central FL. People here have a more rational world view, for the most part.”
Oh, I work with someone who is part of the large Altamonte Springs Jewish community (part of Orlando in Central FL) - sent her kids to Jewish school, etc. She’s pro-Palestinian. She & her husband are basically atheistic & despise anything militaristic. Her husband thinks you can mediate any dispute to resolution. (It really frosts her that - for now - our military have certain tax breaks available to them.) She said about the Israelis, “You are what you do.”
I thought, “You voted for — and are PASSIONATE about - someone who gave the only speeches made on the floor of the Illinois Senate against the ‘Born Alive Act’” - which mandates medical care for babies who survive botched abortions. “So you voted for someone who advocated sticking a fork in said infants’ brains. Is that what you are?”
A self-professed libertarian relative continually asserts to me that social conservatism is a dead issue, but really, I think of the above & it jolts me. Nothing paints a starker picture of what a vicious, opportunistic, extremist BHO must be.
As was stated elsewhere, these liberals are puerile. Don’t let them get away unconfronted when they assert the fallacy that they are the “nice, caring” members of the electorate. Calmly say they must be very cruel & unfeeling to vote for [insert horrid position.]
Because they are liberal Americans not Israelis?
A liberal voter votes liberal, but if he is Jewish he should vote according to what you think serves Israel?
