The paucity of details to date isnt surprising. For all the talk about green-job creation, theres an unavoidable problem with renewable-energy technologies and the policies that promote them: from an economic standpoint, theyre big losers. Renewables cant produce the large volumes of useful, reliable energy that our economy needs at attractive prices. Government subsidizes renewables becauseall things being equalthe free market wont. In many cases, these subsidies amount to little more than welfare for companies and industries with political connections.

“Green jobs” are pure stupidity.
They simply increase the cost of everything produced making us all poorer.
The seven scariest words in the English language are (shudder when you hear them): “It will be good for the economy.”
Most often spoken by a non-economist.
But scarier when they come from an economist!
That British jackass Foster, from the TV show “Wife Swap”, is making a very good living exploiting the subsidies for renewable energy. He should be our poster child for this colossal waste of taxpayer money. Every time somebody mentions Green Energy, we should see in our mind’s eye that smug prick living in his San Francisco mansion.
When I hear the word green anything. I run like hell.
Obama is promising to dismantle some of the most productive dams.
Obviously, he's lying, or he's stupid, or both.
Just for you!

Green government subsidies are going to be classic big government losers. High cost, low profit or none and a redistribution of wealth. Look into what LEED stands for and learn where we are headed -the nineteenth century.
And if he’s not stupid or lying, he is evil and on a mission to take the U.S. down. I think he and whoever is behind him, have calculated that it is we who are stupid and believe the propaganda as if it was our religion.
Dismantle dams - Add that to taxing coal industry out of business, no drilling of our own oil to make us independent *while* we develop alternative energy - which would be the way to do it if common sense was involved.
Over half of the voters fell into this stupor. obama and his handlers think they can get away with taking our country down, while they themselves will be worshiped and enjoy life as the elite.
Here’s an example of obama’s evil psychological abuse of our country: obama and mrs. fly themselves to Chicago for a Valentine date at the taxpayer’s expense, WHILE that emergency “stimulus” bill sat on his desk. He needs to reimburse US for that extravagance. I don’t want to hear another word about CEOs and private jets out of his mouth. Do you see the mind games they are playing on us?
You’ve got that right.
They’re pushing the green industry crap here in Michigan too. In part, they’ve actually hit on a winning idea with tax breaks to green industry. Michigan has started giving big tax breaks to filmmakers and it’s bringing them here. Gran Torino was filmed in Detroit, Rosie Odonut recently filmed a movie here, and Hillary Swank just filmed a scene in my county courthouse the other day.
On the downside, it will never be a basis for our economy and the democrats can’t make the logical leap that real business will come if they give them the same tax breaks we’re giving to hollywood.
“Hydroelectric dams that already exist are the greenest of the green for energy production.”
E-X-A-C-T-L-Y !!!
....hydro is technology we know how to do....plus we get wonderful lakes for recreation and home sites.
Or a scam artist.
It’s not good for politicians to effectively subsidize various enterprises with tax breaks while excluding other kinds of enterprises from those same tax breaks. Politicians are always using subsidies disguised as “tax breaks” to get more of the type of enterprise (high-tech industry, home-buying, film production, etc.) that they favor.
There should be no business or corporate taxes period, only taxes on individuals. But if they are going to cut business or corporate taxes, it should be done uniformly so as to avoid subsidizing anybody at tax-payer expense or accidentally creating a bubble.
Here’s the green job formula..
GREEN JOB = SAME JOB + MORE PAY = HIGHER ENERGY COSTS
Michigan has some 300 existing dams. Obviously they aren’t huge but small generator facilities on some of them could supply a fair amount of energy. Even a small dam like where I live could easily provide all the energy this little town needs.
Unfortunately there’s a nationwide push to remove dams to let the rivers flow free. In fact Michigan’s stimulus wish list include several dam removal projects.
