Privacy advocates are issuing warnings about a new radio chip plan that ultimately could provide electronic identification for every adult in the U.S. and allow agents to compile attendance lists at anti-government rallies simply by walking through the assembly.
The proposal, which has earned the support of Janet Napolitano, the newly chosen chief of the Department of Homeland Security , would embed radio chips in driver's licenses, or "enhanced driver's licenses."
"Enhanced driver's licenses give confidence that the person holding the card is the person who is supposed to be holding the card, and it's less elaborate than REAL ID," Napolitano said in a Washington Times report.
REAL ID is a plan for a federal identification system standardized across the nation that so alarmed governors many states have adopted formal plans to oppose it. However, a privacy advocate today told WND that the EDLs are many times worse.
Radio talk show host and identity chip expert Katherine Albrecht said REAL ID earned the opposition of Christians because of its resemblance to the biblical "mark of the beast," civil libertarians opposed it for its "big brother" connotations and others worried about identity theft issues with the proposed databases.
"We got rid of the REAL ID program, but [this one] is way more insidious," she said.
Enhanced driver's licenses have built-in radio chips providing an identifying number or information that can be accessed by a remote reading unit while the license is inside a wallet or purse.
The technology already had been implemented in Washington state, where it is promoted as an alternative to a passport for traveling to Canada. So far, the program is optional.

I accidentally washed a memory stick. It went through both the washer and dryer cycles before I found it. Worked fine afterwards.
The owner will be getting a notice in the mail from a roadside detector: "Vehicle being operated with no licensed driver. $100 fine."
I wonder how many seconds of time in the microwave will be needed to cook the circuitry out of the license without melting the plastic card itself. Seems to me about 5 seconds will do it.
15 seconds in a microwave should cook any chip.
Keeping a clean license is of great importance in Tennessee where, regardless of age, you must show ID when buying beer. I recommend 30 minutes soaking in very hot dishwater.
I'd rather see 50 caliber machine gun nests placed every 300 yards or so along our southern border so that we don't have illegals here in the first place. Of course, I'm also against any kind of tracking capability in the hands of our "trustworthy" government.
The metal auto body will act as a partial RF shield, and indeed anyone attempting to read a RFID chip via a roadside detector must anticipate that some drivers may have put their wallets in the glove box or other area of the vehicle that will sufficiently shield the chip, or at least the chip’s response to inquiry. In this case such roadside query becomes a random survey that can never be used to enforce 100% compliance.
THe next step will be to make it illegal to do that.
considering how prevalent Hacking gadgets is these days , I say bring it on, we can then reprogram chip to somebody elses info, I suggest an Elected Official or Jack booted Thug (leo).
That will be the one exception where they won’t be allowed to wave their magick wand

Leave the license clipped to the sunvisor or in the glove box unless you’re going to need the id some where. Having said that, what totalitarian, 1984-brained idiot came up with this idea?

The wife and I had our ATM cards canceled because of a security breach.We were issued new ones but we haven’t activated them. We went back to using cash. It’s a bit more hassle but one thing I’ve noticed is we seem to get less junk mail.
