TACOMA, Wash. A judge has sentenced a mother to three months in jail for hitting a convicted sex offender with an aluminum baseball bat.
Before her sentencing Friday, Tammy Lee Gibson told Pierce County Superior Court Judge Susan Serko that laws were needed to keep convicted sexual predators away from children.
Gibson, 40, who has two daughters, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of third-degree assault in January. She initially was charged with second-degree assault and felony harassment, which could have meant an eight-month jail sentence if she'd been convicted.
Court papers said Gibson hit William Allen Baldwin, a 24-year-old sex offender, with the bat after accusing him of molesting her children in June 2008 even though he had not. Baldwin was living in a trailer park near Gibson.

Sounds like a homerun to me.
Whack-A-Molester
And the lawyer says it’s a “Fair resolution”.
I hope the neighbors keep a close eye on him while she’s away. He’s probably thinking “While the cat is away the sex felon can prey.”
He’s certainly a foul ball. ..........sorry.............
Apparently he wasn’t a molester. He is a convicted sex offender ... meaning he could have been convicted of mooning his gym class in high school.
Spring training. The crack of the ball against the bat. Call me a traditionalist, but I prefer the sound wood makes. But in the end, isn’t it about results? Sounds like this gal is in a league of her own.
This label can be rightly assigned to child molesters, rapists, etc. but it also assigned to many others for ‘Crimes’ that are not to the degree or depth that people usually assume. i.e., It groups many, many harmless and maybe even innocent people into a large group that subjects them to lifelong retribution.
For this mother to take a baseball bat to this man is just plain wrong IMO. Despite providing the Public with meaningful warnings and information, this whole ‘Sex Offender’ hysteria has the potential for injustice as far as I can see it.
Yeow!
Sounds like she has the right idea and only needs a little help in the target acquisition area
That’s why I like aluminum bats, not only do they make the sweet PING sound, they wash off with running water.
"Sounds like a homerun to me."
Only if the rule of law and justice is completely arbitrary.
Would’ve been a “double head-er”...if only he was guilty. LOL
I agree with what I infer from your post, that is, that the label of Sex Offender is too easily and too broadly applied.
It really de-values the impact.
I have a friend that is a sex offender now.
His Sister had a baby. She was changing the baby’s diaper, when he said, “Oh, what a cute little bumpilinka she has, just like her Mommy!”, and gave her a little tweak on the bum.
Her husband, who hated her Brother, became enraged, and called the cops. You know the outcome.
The story says that he didn’t do what she accused him of... and this is exactly the very predictable result of those moronic registration laws. An innocent man was battered (literally, LOL), and most here will cheer. So sad that conservatives cheer at the decline of a once-great republic, and a once-just legal system.
There is nothing like having one of these bad boys next to you. This not a story to side-track with “mooning” comment.
Unfortunately, for many it seems to mean that for the rest of their life it is okay for "decent" people to attack them with a baseball bat.
She could've taken a lesson from this guy.
