Why is Rahm Emmanual attacking Limbaugh? I think there are two reasons:

1. He wants to split the Republican party, "divide and conquer" motto has worked very well for the Dems, when Republicans/conservatives are divided and are fighting amongst themselves, the DEMS WIN.

2. I think Obama IS actually afraid that Rush' message will resonate and there will be a united opposition to Obama's socialist policies.

I think we all darn well need to hope and work to make sure that Obama's socialist, dictatorial policies, resulting in the destruction of our economy and the US as we know it WILL FAIL.

Obama's success is a third-world-like USSA (United Socialist States of America), where everyone ( except the ruling class) is equally poor, because "the rich" will leave the country and there won't be anyone left from whom to take things away. That's what happened in the communist countries.

If Rush is a barrier to Obama’s socialism, then every American should be for it.

It isn’t actually “Rush’s Message” as much as it is Rush’s ability to articulate what most of us already know and believe.

He isn’t our brain as much as our voice.

during the 1991 Gulf War, Emanuel was a civilian volunteer in Israel, “rust-proofing brakes on an army base in northern Israel.” (Wikipedia, New Republic). This is peculiar on two counts. Here the U.S. goes to war with Iraq, but Emanuel, a U.S. citizen, volunteers not for his country, but for Israel.

after leaving the Clinton White House, he decided that he needed some accumulated wealth and “security” if he were to stay in politics. So he went to work for Bruce Wasserstein, a major Democratic donor and Wall Street financier.

“Over a 2 1/2-year period he helped broker deals-often using political connections-for Wasserstein Perella. According to congressional financial disclosures, he earned more than $18 million during that period. His deals included Unicom’s merger with Peco Energy and venture fund GTCR Golder Rauner’s purchase of SBC subsidiary SecurityLink. But friends say his compensation also benefited from two sales of the Wasserstein firm itself, first to Dresdner Bank and then to Allianz AG.” Again for a newcomer to haul in $18 million in two years is almost miraculous.

[White House Chief of staff Rahm Emanuel] suggested that Limbaugh's desire for the president's policies to fail is the uniform position of the GOP.

Would that it were so. Unfortunately, the Grand Old Suck-up Party is more concerned about getting invited to all of the really good cocktail parties around D.C..

In 2006, he wrote a book entitled The Plan: Big Ideas for America. In the book he wrote, “We need to fortify the military’s ‘thin green line’ around the world by adding to the U.S. Special Forces and the Marines, and by expanding the U.S. army by 100,000 more troops.” (Obama has called for an increase of 92,000.) He also supported mandatory national service for everyone between the ages of 18 and 25. The book also called for the creation of a new domestic spying organization similar to England’s MI5.

In 2005 Emanuel voted to make the Patriot Act permanent. This year he helped craft a compromise on FISA that allowed the continuation of massive spying on all Americans and others by U.S. spy agencies. Obama also supported the FISA legislation.

Clinton appointed Emanuel to a seat on the board of directors of the quasi-governmental Freddie Mac. Yes, one of the corporations that got the country into the financial crisis in the first place was directed by Emanuel. The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight accused the board of Freddie Mac of having “failed in its duty to follow up on matters brought to its attention.” According to a complaint filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Freddie Mac misreported profits by billions of dollars in order to deceive investors between the years 2000 and 2002. As a director, Emanuel was paid $31,060 in 2000 and $231,655 in 2001.

Also during Emanuel’s tenure Freddie Mac was involved in a scandal regarding campaign contributions and accounting irregularities. In 2006, Freddie Mac was fined $3.8 million by the Federal Election Commission to settle claims that it illegally contributed to congressional candidates during the time when Emanuel was on the board and running for Congress. In his run for the House in 2002, Emanuel received $25,000 in campaign contributions from Freddie Mac.

But we can be assured that Emanuel can deal with the financial industry just like the fox can guard the hen house. In the two-and-a-half years before he ran for Congress, Emanuel worked as an investment banker in Chicago earning more than $16 million. Evidently the financial industry loves him. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, during the 2008 election cycle, Emanuel was the House’s leading recipient of contributions “from hedge funds, private equity firms and the broader securities and investment industry.”

They better be careful, because if they drive him off the air he could decide to run for President himself.

This is why they are doing it:

http://www.gallup.com/poll/114163/Limbaugh-Liked-Not-Republicans.aspx?version=print

Rush is generally not well-liked in the U.S. by a majority of voters. Only 60% of Republicans have a favorable view of him and even more critical, only 25% of independents have a favorable view of him.

If the Dems can tie all Republicans to Rush, they get increased electoral gains on the Republicans in 2010 and 2012. Republicans simply cannot win a damn thing with Rush’s numbers and so long as Rush is on national tv getting attention for himself, the Republicans get hurt.

This is actually a brilliant tactic by the Democratic leadership and it is working very effectively. I have no doubt that by the end of 2009, most sheeple will see Rush’s face and Republican politician as the same thing. What is the GOP leadership going to do to counter this? What can they do without splitting the party? I think it starts with the base, take insults of Rush from GOP leadership with a grain of salt and remember that they have to be re-elected, Rush doesn’t.

He’s right, Rush is the Republican leader now. If not Rush, who is it? Certainly not McCain, he’s not even a conservative, and Govs. Palin and Jindal don’t have enough national stature yet.

Where Emmanual is wrong is in his criticisms. Rush knows what’s wrong with Obama’s plans and he knows what’s right for America, and that ain’t Obama and his Commie friends.

because “the rich” will leave the country and there won’t be anyone left from whom to take things away.

Oh, there’s always the “Middle Class”,
it is indeed a war on the successful,
there won’t be peace until all are reduced to poverty.
It’s very much like Islam in that respect.

They have to have a rallying point, a point ot focus their energies and hatred at. It is much more effective to ‘put a face’ on a movement, something tangible.

Remember 1984 and “Goldstein?”

And if you don’t like that, remember George Bush the last 8 years? And still today to some degree?

I think everyone on all the posts about this are missing the real point of the attacks...

“Rush Limbaugh is the de facto leader of the Republican Party” Barack Obama

Why do you think he said that? There is no way that Obama can just come out and ask the Republican Party to forsake Rush like he did Jeremiah, his grandma and all the rest of his buddies. This is like you said a “divide and conquer” ploy, but more than that it is a roundabout way to get back at Rush and other talk show hosts for bringing the sins of his friends to light and making him repudiate them.

This is the moral equivalent of what they accuse George Bush of doing when we went into Iraq. Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright have been Obama’s surrogate fathers and he is taking out the people who took out his daddy.

Plain and simple...

You people don't understand communists.

Whenever and wherever they come to power, their plans fail. They have an uniform explanation of this, and there is a Soviet neologism for the people who bring it about.

These people are the wreckers.

Before the wreckers can work their evil, it's important that they be rounded up and liquidated.

But in order to gain the power to liquidate the wreckers, running dogs, and capitalist roaders, first the people must understand that it is THEM, not the Dear Leader and not the Party, which is at fault.

Making Rush a "barrier to progress" is the first step on the road to the Gulag and to the execution post.

Don't misunderstand what I am saying. America is not Venezuela, or Cuba. We have infinitely more social cohesion and life force than Chile did in 1973, or Indonesia did in 1965. By what they are doing, they will destroy themselves.

But make no mistake, the attack on Rush is a new thing, a communist thing - and we should expect much, much more of the same before they bring the temple down on their own heads.

Rush is NOT the leader of the Republican party. He IS the leader of the Conservative movement.

Republican and Conservative are not mutually inclusive terms.
