Special treatment can significantly improve results. I'm not a teacher but ended up, all to often, as an unofficial tutor to many classmates throughout my earlier school years. The attitude projected towards someone trying to learn something cannot be over estimated IMO. It's seemed to me to be almost the paramount consideration.

When the Vietnamese immigrants came to San Diego, the parents put education on the top of the list as well. They too raced past the white majority...at least the first generation. I'm not sure that has held for 2nd generation kids. The work ethic isn't always maintained.

ethnic minorities are often members of the middle class or higher from whence they came. often not comparing pples to apples.

Dollars to ...ummmh, Pounds to doughnuts the immigrant families are intact(mom, pop,siblings, maybe even gramps, grandma) while the poor whities are children of single parent homes where dad is absent and boyfriends of mom are rotated out and in. Also likely mother on public dole and has enough to dign her welfare check.

Plus education is in and tv's and video games are out.

The native Brits are very, very, very, foolish people. Now as an American I'm award that calling a Brit foolish is like the pot calling the kettle black.

But the Brits put their faith in the Labor party and all the goodies they could get from government. People warned them that the Liberals in the Labor government would knife them in the back and sure as hell they did with their immigration policy. Now the Brits have lost their country. Oh well you still have government health care.

Practically no religious training of the young will cause the country to rot. Boys need the model of a strong, moral father, which lower class British boys do not have. The UK may be past the survival point.

let’s see... if you’re a white guy and your whole life you’ve been passed over because of your skin color... your kid might hear you complaining about it with your wife.

same thing happens here in the US. ‘minorities’ (only blacks really) have the majority of grants/scholarships that do not require a parent to work for the giver. on top of that, boys have had their education neglected since hildabeast decreed that more girls should be in math & science... telling the teachers to avoid calling on boys.

i’ve about had it with the US... and if they expire the Bush and Reagan tax cuts, there will be no point in working in the country. (many countries have a 10% tax, and not the 80% that 0bama is warming up to)
