US: 'Inescapable' movement to Palestinian state

JERUSALEM (AP) - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton promised Tuesday to work with the incoming Israeli government, but delivered a clear message that could put her at odds with the country's next leader: Movement toward the establishment of a Palestinian state is "inescapable."

Clinton also said the U.S. would soon send two envoys to Syria. It was the most significant sign yet that the Obama administration is ready to mend relations with the Damascus regime. The U.S. withdrew its ambassador in 2005, accusing Syria of supporting terrorism.

I thought that history teaches that Jordan is a “Palestinian State”.

I know this figure is widely quoted. But how was it arrived at? I didn't disclose my religion when I voted. Did you? Is it strictly from exit polling? I know many, many conservative Jews who would never have voted for Zero. I wonder if the media (or pollsters) have an agenda with regard to Jews and Zero. Based upon Zero's wide unpopularity in Israel, I question whether he garnered that many American Jewish votes.

Ya right Hillary. And the democrats have such a fine track record in the middle east peace process. Carter, Clinton both miserable failures.

what’s wrong is they already HAVE a “2 state solution”, when 90% of the British Mandate was given to the arabs.

those people are Jordanians/Egyptians, and they have no part in Israel. They should/could be taken in by the arab states, but they are ONLY there as a thorn to Israel, for the SINGLE purpose of destroying Israel, piece by piece if necessary.

You didn’t know that?

The British Mandate was The Balfour Declaration of 1917... “given to the Arabs.”

I would think that nearly a hundred years later when there is no Palistinian state, discussion of one would be prudent.

No, because the only purpose is the total destruction of Israel as a nation.

Time changes nothing. Should Mexico be able to have the south west US now? Should discussion of that be prudent? Maybe Russia should be allowed to have some of Alaska now? Would that be prudent?

Those people are Jordanians, and egyptians, from 50 years ago. There never was anything called a “palestinian” - that was the arbitrary antisemitic name given the region by the Romans. Everyone who lived there was sometimes called a “palestinian”, in the 40s there was a jerusalem newspaper “the palestinian post” which was a JEwish newspaper.

the whole thing is a bunch of false premises. they could easily be absorbed by the huge muslim countries around, for that is where they CAME from in the 1st place.

It’s been prudent for several decades. They could have had their own country a long time ago.

The only thing standing in the way of a Palestinian State is their incredibly stupid governments. They never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

Israel would like to live in peace with them, but hey insist on attacking Israel on a daily basis. Just think for a moment, if the Mexican government started lobbing rockets into El Paso. I think you could expect UAVs in the air, A10s, Spectres and a large contingent of Marines on the border, ready to rock and roll.

Which may suggest a solution for Ciudad Juarez. The last time Marines showed up in a Latin country, Honduras, the fighting ended (with Guatemala, Nixon Administration). Immediately. They lost boots trying to get out of the area they ran so fast.
