CONCORD, N.H. -- The New Hampshire House killed a resolution affirming state sovereignty on Wednesday, dashing the hopes of conservatives who say the federal government should quit meddling in local affairs.

Not surprising really at all.
These are bills shunted to committees to die, just like the impeachment resolutions for GWB were during the last 8 yrs..
Names, we need to start naming names!
The article says it was a non-binding resolution anyway, though a symbolic effort would have been nice.
I knew it was too good to be true. Too many Taxachusetts transplants over the last 20 years to allow something like this to survive in the Granite State.
Ping.
So what’s the next step to keep this issue alive if it fails in a few states..? ANY IDEAS..
Isn’t it more like the last two election cycles have “killed” a former majority Republican legislature in both the Gen Court House and Senate, Executive Council?

1. Keep trying;
2. Civil disobedience;
3. Lock and load.
So much for the “Live Free or Die” state.
New Hampshire was once a beautiful conservative state. Now it is ruined by the liberals that came up from Boston after they destroyed their own City state.
New Hampshire should adopt an anti-immigration bill to keep foreigners out - immigrants from New York, New Jersey, Vermont and Massachusetts.
Once upon a time this would have sailed through.
Your state motto is a joke.

I am working on a grass roots effort in CT. It won’t work overnight. Anyone in CT who is concerned needs to contact me at metaqubitataoldotcom. So far, one petition drive netted some 50 names. More needs to be done.
Also, we need to understand the objections in NH. You can be sure money is at the root. Also, the NH resolution, with all due respect to Dan Itse, is hard to understand in many places.
The fundamental themes of liberty have to resonate with many people. There is a way to “sell” the resolution. Sounds like that way was not used in NH. I have a feeling that any perception of fear-mongering works against proposals in New England. Not sure why.
The issue needs to be articulated, debated, and worked over until we arrive at something with broad appeal.
Yeah, it takes no guts to vote on symbolic resolutions.
I promise you we’re going to try again, but with a binding resolution this time.
The other point is that this assertion has consequences that need to be thought through. Washington has to know we mean business, that null and void means null and void, that how each state gets back it’s tax money has to change, that the states and the federal government still have a close relationship, but one that follows the Constitution, rather than ignoring it for the sake of power grabs.
In other words, we need to determine how it will be implemented, what will happen to the money, what laws will be on the books and what laws will not, what rules will there be for how state and federal work with each other on transportation, on commerce and other issues that cross state borders.
There is much to work out in order to unwind over a hundred years of unconstitutional abuse.
Agreed - I just don't know how we can get there absent the support of a number of states representing a significant population. Even then, we need to face up to the reality that there really are "Two Americas", just not the ones John Edwards was talking about. One America wants to be self-governing and independent, the other collectivist and dependent. In that respect, I fear we are reaching a point of departure.

Please ~ping~ me to articles relating to the 10th Amendment/States Rights so I can employ the pinger.
I continue to add names to the ping list as I run across others participating on similar threads. If you want off the list just say so.
