Ronald Reagan gave us Sandra Day O’Connor, Antonin Scalia and Anthony Kennedy. That’s a 1 for 3 record on the issue on that scorecard. I think he exposed himself to a fair amount of criticism on life issues through that decision and others like it.
I don’t know Judy Brown or criticisms—they may well have been intemperate—but it’s certain that Reagan left room for criticism on life issues.

It was not possible for Reagan to get a died in the wool prolifer through the Senate.
Yes, he could have done a bit better, but he did not deserve the bitter attacks from the radical prolifers who do not play the political game very well.
I recall that the attack was directed primarily, at the time, against Colin Powell, not a SCOTUS appointment.
