Thanks. I see the long range marksmanship potential.
The highest muzzle energy I can find for the 5.7x28 367 foot pounds, and that’s from a commercial site. I can’t find muzzle energy figures for the Five-SeveN Tactical on FN’s site.
If I do the calculations myself, converting 40 grains to kilograms, 2800 feet/second to meters/second, calculating ke=1/2mv^2 and converting the results from newton-meters to foot-pounds I only get 255.75 foot pounds but I may be doing something wrong.

The 5.7x28mm round was developed in the late 1980's by FN Herstal of Belgium, a leading developer of small arms with a reputation for fielding innovative weapons systems.
5.7x28mm ammunition was developed to address 21st-century requirements for close-quarter combat, urban warfare, special operations and air and ground vehicle crew personal defence. It is lighter, recoils less than comparative weapons and penetrates over 48 layers of kevlar at 200m.
Herstal claims the SS190 ammunition used in the 5.7x28mm weapons system is far superior to existing 9mm rounds which are are old and obsolete for military operations. The SS190 ball round is smaller and about half the weight of a 9mm round, permitting nearly twice the number of rounds in a comparably-sized magazing..
Less recoil results in faster target sight recovery, enhancing effectiveness in rapid and full automatic fire. Herstal claims the round produces an almost flat trajectory up to 200m, and does not deform or fragment on impact. Upon impact, the bullet reportedly produces a tumbling action increasing effectiveness.
Only the SS90, SS190 and SS191 ammo can defeat body armor. Those loads are restricted to Law Enforcement and Military sales only. (They are officially classed as "Armor Piercing, Pistol Caliber" rounds and are therefore federally restricted.) The civilian commercial loads are SS192, SS195, SS196, and SS197. Those will not penetrate standard-issue body armor. They are hollowpoint and (plastic) ballistic tip loads.
The 5.7x28mm family of ammunition also includes the L191 tracer, the Sb193 subsonic for use with sound suppressor and the T194 training round to reduce backstop damage.
It is chambered in FN's Five-seveN pistol and their P90 sub-machine gun.
