Obama's safety net: the TelePrompter
Politico ^ | 3-5-09 | CAROL E. LEE

President Barack Obama doesn’t go anywhere without his TelePrompter.

The textbook-sized panes of glass holding the president’s prepared remarks follow him wherever he speaks.

Resting on top of a tall, narrow pole, they flank his podium during speeches in the White House’s stately parlors. They stood next to him on the floor of a manufacturing plant in Indiana as he pitched his economic stimulus plan. They traveled to the Department of Transportation this week and were in the Capitol Rotunda last month when he paid tribute to Abraham Lincoln in six-minute prepared remarks.

Obama’s reliance on the teleprompter is unusual — not only because he is famous for his oratory, but because no other president has used one so consistently and at so many events, large and small.

NYTimes did an article on this today. Funniest line had to do with him using a teleprompter to relate “an experience I’ll never forget.”

I said it on another thread. That picture makes Obama look like he’s trapped in the phantom zone (from Superman lore). Makes perfect sense though...the 2-dimensional man. No depth.

He can’t speak. And he can’t write. President of the Harvard Law Review but never wrote any articles for it. Instructor of constitutional law in Chicago for ten years, but never wrote a single scholarly article. Not much question that his books were entirely ghost written, too, although whether Bill Ayres was the ghostwriter is a matter of opinion.

Frankly, he’s a self-obsessed jerk. How anyone who is not delusional can think he is a powerful orator is beyond me. How about his speach on race last spring that the media all said was greater than the Gettysburg address? Does anyone still remember what he said? Of course not. It was nothing but trivial race-baiting boilerplate.

You can almost hear the fuhrer end a sentence with “she was, ironically enough, a VEGETARIAN!”

Obama has never been an "orator".

He is, and has always been, merely a Tele-Prompter reader.

Without it he wouldn’t know what to say. He’s sort of like an actor or TV anchor in that way, with those ear pieces.

They have actually elected the tru Manchurian Candidate.

It had something to do with his racist Grandmother ending up under a bus.

That reminds me of an old episode of the American version of the Spitting Image TV puppet show.

The Bob Hope puppet is runnning around a boardroom shouting "Where's my cue card? Where's my cue card?" while being followed by an aide holding cue cards saying "Where's my cue card?"
