WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama, who often says his $787 billion economic stimulus package will save or create millions of jobs, can point to at least 25 jobs saved in Ohio's capital.
Obama was to travel to Columbus on Friday to speak at the graduation ceremony for 25 police recruits who owe their jobs to the economic recovery bill he signed into law less than three weeks ago.
The recruits are part of a class of 27 who were laid off in January by Mayor Michael Coleman, a Democrat, before they could even start walking the beat. Coleman blamed city budget problems at the time.

it’s the NEW American way
Ohio’s unemployment rate is now over 10%.
Good thing Obama is focusing on whats truly important.....
OK how did Obama? Never mind....
And how long can they be kept on the payroll once the federal money runs out?
Columbus area doughnut shops are thankful!
No mention was made of the budgetary losses the city currently has and the prospect for more future cuts to that budget. Amazing....
More smoke and mirrors. Unfortunately, this won’t be mentioned by the MSM.
Dog and Pony show.
I might add that similar to the VP visit yesterday that kept the media out, this too is closed to the public but selective tickets are available. I suspect the local media and national media will be permitted for the purposes as you state, dog and pony....
Its a carbon copy of what Hitler did in the '30's only with a teleprompter.
WoW he has saved .000007 of his goal. MY HERO /sarc not needed
When is the American people going to wake up. Zero is spending money we can never pay back. He won’t address it and Americans are losing as much money as he is spending.
This is very much part of the strategy. Lard up gov't (read union) payrolls with "free" money under this budget then scream bloody murder when the "cuts" come in the next budget cycle. The ratchet clicks another notch towards total gov't employment, total communism.
Constant campaign mode.
LOL... :)
We’re definitely gonna be needing more police here in the Buckeye state. The only question is, who’s side they gonna be fighting on?
Wow saved 25! That’s less than a drop in the bucket. I’d be embarrassed to even announce this.
Are these permanent jobs or temporary jobs?
How much does it cost to fly around on Air Force 1 with all the trappings that go with it, so he can pat himself on the back? Did he take his teleprompter with him too?
So he could save the trip & send them the money instead!!
