Is Twitter a tweet tool for the useful idiots of the left?

Just heard Rush mention that Twitter is a tool of the left. Obama & Co use it to "tweet" their millions of members with instant messages (propaganda). Don't know if this is true or not, but would be interesting to find out. Same goes for Facebook. Heard it was a leftist tool. And we already know Wiki is. Looks like the left is invading the Net. Prepare to repel boarders to starboard!

Twitter is what you make of it. It isn’t ideological, it’s just a tool

It’s used by the left because they found it early. FR could set up an account to send out a tweet any time a new story was posted.

Personally, I follow people I know, smart and funny people, along with other people in the news media. Some of the people I follow are conservative bloggers, but in general, conservative bloggers haven’t been quick to accept Twitter.

Their mantra is “politicize everything”. Which is why books about music or pinball machines or whatever will still make smear attacks on Reagan and Bush and oil and the war in Iraq. Same goes for apolitical forums, movie review sites. Everything.

Twitter’s a tool. It’s neutral. Conservatives can use it to organize, same as liberals can—it’s just a way to send short text messages back and forth. If liberals dominate it, it’s simply because they’ve adopted it more quickly.

If they are being used by leftists, it is only because leftists see an opportunity to spread their messages through use of those tools. The tools themselves are no more leftist than a potted plant. Individuals who use Facebook or Twitter are in complete control over their own networks.

I enjoy twitter a lot. I have fun and its quite informative. Quite a group of conservatives on there I follow. I also get local traffic reports, pass conditions, Ferry wait times, and Canadian border info through it. Also follow some local news sources.
