Creation: antidote for depression

by Tas Walker

‘Now I realize why I’ve been depressed for so long’, a man with dishevelled hair, baggy clothes and unkempt beard told me after a meeting one evening. He said he had always accepted evolution was a fact. That night he realized that this evolutionary belief was the reason for his dark despair and feeling of emptiness....

I’m almost convinced that God is not in control and most likely doesn’t exist.

Without a creator, there is no moral law, merely the law of the jungle, survival of the fittest. An economy where there is not right or wrong, only the need to survive.

How do you account for moral acts committed by animals?

Evolution does not say that life is random. Randomness is nothing more than a statistical concept. For example, the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium assumes random mating even though the choice of mate is determined by chemical activity in the brain or primitive brain. Everything in the universe is affected by laws of physics.

The only problem with evolution and Christianity is the interpretation of Genesis. A literal interpretation renders them completely at odds.

The only good news is that the chance of a loving God existing is still above 0%. Horrible odds but better than nothing.

It does have a terrifying moral conclusion and we can expect to see MUCH more carnage in the future. The worst part about it is that creationists are not finding enough evidence to turn the tide against atheism. Evolution is mounting.

“Inside, you after you turn of the computer and put the intellectual high mindedness aside and in the quite time, you do know there is a Creator.”

If I know then why don’t I “know”? Been trying for years to find evidence for God and found nothing.

“But Bible calls you a fool”

Are fools always ignored by God? That’s the conclusion that I’ve come to right now.

Animals don’t think as abstractly as we do. They do this because the genes that promote altruism often have the best chance of preserving themselves.
