Barack Obama 'too tired' to give proper welcome to Gordon Brown
The London Telegraph ^ | March 7, 2009 | Tim Shipman

Posted on 03/07/2009 12:16:38 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Barack Obama's offhand approach to Gordon Brown's Washington visit last week came about because the president has facing exhaustion over America's economic crisis and is unable to focus on foreign affairs, the Sunday Telegraph has been told.

Sources close to the White House say Mr Obama and his staff have been "overwhelmed" by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest.

British officials, meanwhile, admit that the White House and US State Department staff were utterly bemused by complaints that the Prime Minister should have been granted full-blown press conference and a formal dinner, as has been customary. They concede that Obama aides seemed unfamiliar with the expectations that surround a major visit by a British prime minister.

But Washington figures with access to Mr Obama's inner circle explained the slight by saying that those high up in the administration have had little time to deal with international matters, let alone the diplomatic niceties of the special relationship.

Allies of Mr Obama say his weary appearance in the Oval Office with Mr Brown illustrates the strain he is now under, and the president's surprise at the sheer volume of business that crosses his desk.

A well-connected Washington figure, who is close to members of Mr Obama's inner circle, expressed concern that Mr Obama had failed so far to "even fake an interest in foreign policy".

A British official conceded that the furore surrounding the apparent snub to Mr Brown had come as a shock to the White House. "I think it's right to say that their focus is elsewhere, on domestic affairs. A number of our US interlocutors said they couldn't quite understand the British concerns and didn't get what that was all about."

Wait, he told us during the campaign he could walk and chew gum at the same time. I guess he meant that literally?

Oh, man up, Mr. Barry Soetero. You knew there would be days like this, or did nobody tell you before you took the job?

Nobody likes a whiner. And this was only about a month into the job, what is it going to be two years from now?

If you hate the job that much, or it is too much of a chore, you COULD resign. Toot sweet.

What this crock demonstrates is that Obama, like Clinton before him, looked at the presidency as a political goal to achieve for the perks of power, not the responsibilities of governing. Remember Clinton’s ‘I never worked so hard in my life’ presser just weeks into of his presidency?

Twice now this country has elected emotional adolescents for its POTUS. It really is a grown-up’s job.

Hell, I miss Bill Clinton!!!!! .... GoCards

Hell, I'm even starting to miss this guy. .... Polybius

Hell, this incompetent jackass is making me miss Bubba Clintoon. ..... fieldmarshaldj

Same here, the lovable old scaliwag. ..... Gorzaloon

Hell, what is truly pathetic about Obama is that we all actually mean it!

If a magic genie offered to have Bill Clinton replace Obama in the White House if I walked from Seattle to Miami, I would do it and I would kiss Bubba's feet when I got there.

Obama is a neurathenic WIMP.

Can’t walk and chew gum at the same time? And this is our President?

His economic policies are disastrous, the Markets hate his plans, and tank every time he gives a speech.

We are heading towards a foreign policy catastrophe with a PIAPS in charge. She can’t even get the names of dignitaries correct, and confesses to the EU “I never could understand those multi party democracies”. Her chiding of Israel for not “following the road map” is an omen of worse things to come.

Obama and his Atty General seem not to be on the same page. Chiding Holder for his “cowards about race” comments, Obama doesn’t quite disavow them, he kinda, like, you know, agrees.

We are heading into an abysss on a rudderless ship.
America! Wake up.

Ronald Reagan was 25 years older when he was POTUS, and never missed a meeting.

He's only 48 years old!! These people are in way over their heads, already!!

Exactly....just as folks viewing him objectively before the election predicted.

God help us (and only He can) if we have another 9/11 during his watch.

“The Sunday Telegraph understands that one of Mr Obama’s most prominent African American backers, whose endorsement he spent two years cultivating, has told friends that he detects a weakness in Mr Obama’s character.”

“’The one real serious flaw I see in Barack Obama is that he thinks he can manage all this,’” the well-known figure told a Washington official, who spoke to this newspaper. “’He’s underestimating the flood of things that will hit his desk.’”

If this is the only real serious flaw that Colin Powell sees, he needs an emergency trip to the opthamologist.

I’ve been thinking the same thoughts. Such a bunch of “bull.” Can you just imagine what the press would have said if Bush acted like Obama?

Well they are planning on going on vacation again with the girls for spring break—that might help him get caught up on his rest. I read that somewhere last week in an article about Michelle.

“Anyone miss George W. Bush yet???”

I said people would in six months. I was wrong.
It’ll be less than that.

This story is amazing. It’s as if Obama is literally coming unhinged after less than 2 months in office. He’s tired! Wahh. He has to work too hard. Waaah.

All the over-butted first lady had to do was to go downstairs and ask the head of the permanent staff what arrangements are customary for a visiting head of state.

You know, it may just be that these people are such classless rookies that they just don’t know how to run a real government. LOL
