Barack Obama 'too tired' to give proper welcome to Gordon Brown
The London Telegraph ^ | March 7, 2009 | Tim Shipman

Posted on 03/07/2009 12:16:38 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Barack Obama's offhand approach to Gordon Brown's Washington visit last week came about because the president has facing exhaustion over America's economic crisis and is unable to focus on foreign affairs, the Sunday Telegraph has been told.

Sources close to the White House say Mr Obama and his staff have been "overwhelmed" by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest.

British officials, meanwhile, admit that the White House and US State Department staff were utterly bemused by complaints that the Prime Minister should have been granted full-blown press conference and a formal dinner, as has been customary. They concede that Obama aides seemed unfamiliar with the expectations that surround a major visit by a British prime minister.

But Washington figures with access to Mr Obama's inner circle explained the slight by saying that those high up in the administration have had little time to deal with international matters, let alone the diplomatic niceties of the special relationship.

Allies of Mr Obama say his weary appearance in the Oval Office with Mr Brown illustrates the strain he is now under, and the president's surprise at the sheer volume of business that crosses his desk.

A well-connected Washington figure, who is close to members of Mr Obama's inner circle, expressed concern that Mr Obama had failed so far to "even fake an interest in foreign policy".

A British official conceded that the furore surrounding the apparent snub to Mr Brown had come as a shock to the White House. "I think it's right to say that their focus is elsewhere, on domestic affairs. A number of our US interlocutors said they couldn't quite understand the British concerns and didn't get what that was all about."

“the president has facing exhaustion over America’s economic crisis and is unable to focus on foreign affairs”
* * * *

OMG, he’s a bigger lightweight than even we thought he was.

Guess working out out at the Marines’ facility didnt help build up his stamina any.

What a worthless jerk. He never managed so much as a 7-11, and the Sheeple thought he could handle THIS?

Okay, had to put a post up here- now i’m going to back to read the thread.

:-)

And to not air the dirty laundry publicly, ME-Chelle Mabelle will start helping out with some of the decisions. He’ll delegate some of the less important stuff (in his mind anyway) to her. Like national security en foreign relations.

I’m not putting anything past this clown at this point.

Good observation. We have always thought that he seems to have a weak constitution, and weak nervous and circulatory systems.

And he still smokes.

I think he truly thought being president was nothing more than mastering the teleprompter and playing with all the shiny perks the office brings.

I don’t miss W’s policies, but I sure as hell miss W the man... he would not embarrass the USA before our British allies because he was “tired”

I thought I would never say it, but I have been saying it often. Good to see that I am not the only one.

I am just waiting for Obama to get that famous "3 A.M call" Hillary mentioned. I am sure he will say..."Hey, Hillary...take this one, I need my rest!"

Boma just needs a little blow. He’ll be alright if he can just do a couple of lines....

That's been my prediction for sometime. In a moment of desperation, the line will be crossed, then all h$ll will break loose three or four weeks later (remember Noriega and his coke fueled insanity?).

I agree. Obama will continue to do whatever he wants. We don’t know, but there could be people around him trying to give him good advice. He is too much of a narcissist to listen. In order to take advice and listen to others, one must have humility and personal insight. Unfortunately for America, Obama has neither.

Sold to you Obama.

With your “tax and spend us into the ground” budget, bailouts and stimulus package, you OWN this economy.

Party hardy buddy....while you can.

The benefit with Clinton is that he would rather abandon his leftist instincts than be disliked. So, he backed off on socialized medicine quickly (I realize he lost the Congress over it and wouldn’t have had a prayer passing it with the freshman class, but Obama would be so tone deaf as to push for it anyway) and moved quickly to seize credit for welfare reform.

He never has worked a real job (or a full day’s work) in his life. This is not a shocker at all.

Sorry, it is his job to represent this nation in an appropriate manner. How many people other than those with government jobs, of course, are afforded the luxury to say “sorry, I am tired, can’t do it, just overwhelmed?”

Impeach the bast*rd!

Doesn't it make you wonder if the issues with his birth, and other unavailable records are eating at him? If caught in his web of lies, he will age 50 years in one day.
