CAIRO, Egypt Pulitzer-prize winning author Alice Walker, who wrote "The Color Purple," is traveling to Gaza along with other female activists to highlight the devastation of the Israeli offensive on Gaza's residents.
"I feel that what is happening in the Middle East is very important because the situation is so volatile," said Walker, speaking by telephone Saturday from the Rafah border crossing as her group waited to travel into Gaza. "I love people, and I love children and I feel that the Palestinian child is just as precious as the African-American child, as the Jewish child."
Walker is part of a group of about 60 women going to Gaza to deliver aid and meet with NGOs and residents. The trip, organized by the U.S. anti-war group Code Pink, is intended to push both Israel and Egypt to open the borders into Gaza, said Medea Benjamin, co-founder of Code Pink who helped organize the trip.

The hypocrisy of the Left knows no bounds.
Does anyone have a barf bag handy? Another anti-Semite Mama O voter heard from.
“I love people, and I love children and I feel that the Palestinian child is just as precious as the African-American child, as the Jewish child.”
Walker is a very militant feminist. When her own daughter had a child, she refused from then on even to speak to her (having children is not on the feminist agenda). At last word, she has never seen her grandchild.
IMHO she lives in an alternate reality, suffused with hate for others which gives her self-justification for her anger and selfish attitudes.
Palestinians, love your children when they’re young.
They blow up so fast...
One can hope they endure the Rachel Corrie experience.
Hope she watches out for the Caterpillar ‘dozers! I heard Rachel Corrie made “quite an impression” with one. I know, that was mean....
...”I feel that the Palestinian child is just as precious
as the African-American child, as the Jewish child.”
It is very sad that those who stand behind them and fire
on Israeli soldiers, and would strap explosives to them
and send them into an Israeli cafe, don’t share your
sentiment.
OOOOOOH! Bam!
That was good.
Maybe she can talk to those Palestinian children about their stopping of the murder of Jewish children. Otherwise, I hope she just stays over there.
Selling ‘em down the river; lock, stock and barrel. Ain’t change great!
This is great! While she’s there, she can ask about Sana al-Sayegh, the Christian university professor who was kidnapped, raped, and forced to marry a moslem back in 2007, and who has not been seen by her family since. I know that as a feminist, Alice Walker will be as outraged as anyone at that injustice.
So then why doesn't Walker and sixty of her nearest and dearest friends from Code Pink "deliver aid" to the likes of Newark,Philly, E. St. Louis, Detroit? Heck, think about how much money they could save on air fare, etc. by not going to Gaza. Extra Money they could use in their divine, selfless mission. After all, all children as the same, aren't they?
I think that if she pushes that line of reasoning too hard in Gaza she may be in some trouble.
I read an article written by her daughter awhile back here on FR. If even half of what it said is true, Alice Walker is a major hypocrite. But it’s hip to be concerned about Gaza, ya know. Makes me wonder how her daughter feels reading stuff like this.
