Yup, jail time is no good for Barney Frank because he may end up actually enjoying himself there.

Hey, thanks a lot for that mental image. /sarc>

Maybe for a few hours. 50 hits a day kind of is a pain in the butt.

"Barney Fwank and the rest of his ilk are heterophobic."

That would seem the case. But, what I think frightens Fwank (& company) into hyperventilation extremus, is the reality that there are people who know they can achieve momentous things without the aid, interference, or permission of Fwank or any politician or any government bureaucrat. They will stop at nothing to prevent that knowledge from gaining greater currency. At bottom, the men and women of Congress are petty little men and women of no consequence. Unfortunately, so were the men who served Hitler. Fortunately, President 0bama is more like that buffoon Mussolini than he is Hitler.

Nonetheless, please keep in mind that Mussolini did a lot of damage for any good that he did (like . . . keeping the trains running on time).

ROFLOL, you badly need a reading course.

His words as he spoke them: We are here in Washington, D.C. to address problems. So I've set this goal for the country. We want 5.5 million more homeowners by 2010 -- million more minority homeowners by 2010. (Applause.) Five-and-a-half million families by 2010 will own a home. That is our goal. It is a realistic goal. But it's going to mean we're going to have to work hard to achieve the goal, all of us. And by all of us, I mean not only the federal government, but the private sector, as well.

Please note that Bush made his speech about increased minority home ownership in October 2002. Bush then became aware of the Fannie and Freedie problems and tried to correct it, proof being Treasury Secretary Snow's speech dated September 10, 2003. It was the Dems that foiled the correction.

ROFLOL, you badly need a reading course.

Here's some reading for you. All of this lending to minorities started years before Bush. He did not come up with this. The American Dream was a 2 trillion Fannie program begun in 1999.

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1365/is_n4_v25/ai_15891530

Last year, pressure from President Clinton's administration caused Fannie Mae to initiate mortgage loans to two previously neglected groups: inner-city residents and low- to moderate-income home buyers.

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0EIN/is_2003_March_18/ai_98885990

On the third anniversary of its "American Dream Commitment(R)," Fannie Mae and its lender partners already have fulfilled over half of its ten-year pledge to provide $2 trillion in home financing for 18 million historically underserved families, Fannie Mae Chairman and CEO Franklin D. Raines announced today.

To date, Fannie Mae has provided more than $1.3 trillion for nearly 12 million targeted families, completing two-thirds of the American Dream Commitment in about 30 percent of the time, and leading the market in serving minorities and the nation's affordable housing needs.

Last time I heard the Dems were in charge of the Senate in 2003 (remember Daschel?) and the Repubs had a slight majority in the House.

Are you suffering from Alzheimiers? I think you need a check up. ; )

Bush had nothing to do with setting the amount of money that Fannie Mae lent out to minorities. Congress is in charge of Fannie Mae, not the president. By law, Fannie Mae has to lend to the poor. That’s why it was created. Bush made a speech to help Fannie Mae introduce some new program of theirs.

Bush took half of HUD’s regular yearly budget and used it to pay for down payments. That was his contribution to mortgages. People could go to any lender, not just Fannie Mae. They had to take classes about buying and owning a home and how not to get ripped off by a lender.

We have been told for decades that if people own their own homes that it leads to less crime and better neighborhoods.

Within a couple of months of taking office Bush asked congress to completely revamp the oversite of Fannie Mae. He was not unaware of problems.

The President is NOT the Speaker. (And just in case you do not know ; ), there is an Executive Branch - Bush at the time and there is a Legislative Branch - Hastert and Daschel at the time). Obviously a bill has to get out of Committee in the House and Barney Franks made sure that DID NOT happen much less to get to the floor of the House. A bill from each chamber has to be passed by each chamber and then both chambers negotiate the bills to make one bill. It then goes to the President. Just wondering if YOU know who was on the Board of Directors of Freddie and at the time?

Hint, Hint:

Answer: Rahm Emanuel
