Nancy Reagan praises Obama Craig Gordon Craig Gordon 17 mins ago

Under fire from congressional Republicans for lifting restrictions on stem-cell research, President Barack Obama got a powerful endorsement for his move Monday from Nancy Reagan, the former’s president’s wife.

“I’m very grateful that President Obama has lifted the restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research,” she wrote in a statement released shortly after Obama signed an executive order lifting the Bush-era restrictions. “These new rules will now make it possible for scientists to move forward. I urge researchers to make use of the opportunities that are available to them, and to do all they can to fulfill the promise that stem cell research offers."

Nancy Reagan has been an outspoken advocate of stem-cell research – and scientists hope that the research could someday lead to cure to Alzheimer’s disease, which afflicted her husband, Ronald Reagan.

Interesting that they chose not to say WHY in the headline.

Perhaps this new research will also find a cure for whatever demonic madness afflicts Nancy and her weirdo son Ron-Ron.

The Reagan family isn’t exactly a showcase for Conservatism.
Sigh... Ronald Jr., Nancy... what’s wrong with them?

Also Nancy praises Obama, who mocked her “seances”?

I wonder if Ronald Reagan had a treatment available to him that was the result of unethical research and funded by the government if he would have refused treatment. I for one, no matter the affiliation, will refuse treatment that came about as a result of unethical stem cell research.

More than anyone else on the planet, Nancy would know how President Reagan would feel about this issue.

I am sure Nancy would not dishonor her husband’s wishes.

It’s really irritating to see “embryonic” used and dropped indiscriminately when speaking of banned forms of stem-cell research.

This is not new for Nancy Reagan. She's been for fetal stem cell research Since Ronald was diagnosed with alzheimers.

Why stop at embryonic stem cell research. Let's go with imposing the death penalty by harvesting the organs of the condemned. Why settle for a few paltry cells that might or might not ever prove helpful in aiding a sick person. A single execution would provide a heart, two lungs, two kidneys, a liver, two corneas, a pancreas and assorted other various tissues.

I had a total hip replacement a while back. They gave me the pre-op and I could not have cared less what they did after that. I woke up several hours later, but it would have been just a easy to take all the usable parts and not bother to waken me.

For that matter why not let me go to a state that approves of physician assisted suicide and let people pay my family for all the parts that could be harvested? I am a man of limited means and stand little chance of leaving my heirs a lot of money, so why not let me use my body as I see fit and use it for the good of my family. It's my body, I should be allowed to do with it as I please. After all, the organs are not ‘persons’ just masses of tissue that belong to me anyway.

Just a thought.

So is Orrin Hatch. It really is about them personally. They want to live forever.

But why? ESR has failed over and over and over again. Which is why federal funding is needed, no private enterprise will waste money pursuing this pointless endeavor.

I hate watching people like Christopher Reeve, Michael J. Fox and Nancy Regan be used by agenda driven folks, without the benefit of the truth.

She could have used her own money to fund the research if it meant so much to her.

Poor woman. She is completely lost and really a nothing without Ronnie. It’s a shame that she’s letting herself be used in this way.

They already have medications that could have extended his life and helped Reagan with his memory. (They weren’t around while he was alive)

I doubt these medications were associated with stem cell research.

Nancy has always been pro-abortion. She’s always been a liberal.

She was a loyal wife, and Ronnie brought out whatever was good in her.

She cannot be very bright. There’s never been any evidence that she’s very bright.
