My Beef With Ann Coulter
Daily Beast ^ | Megan McCain

Posted on 03/09/2009 11:41:50 AM PDT by pissant

It is no secret that being a Republican isn’t the most hip political stance a person can take right now. President Obama has successfully established himself as the hippest politician around. You know you’re big when Katy Perry wears a dress with your face on it to host the MTV Europe Music Awards. To my fellow Republicans: I’m sorry, I wish I could be more positive about the current “hipness” of our party. But being a Republican is about as edgy as Donny Osmond. Granted, being “hip” is not a reason to join a political party, or a reason to agree with its ideals. But it is a way to get the attention of a generation—or, more specifically, my generation.

To make matters worse, certain individuals continue to perpetuate negative stereotypes about Republicans. Especially Republican women. Who do I feel is the biggest culprit? Ann Coulter. I straight up don’t understand this woman or her popularity. I find her offensive, radical, insulting, and confusing all at the same time. But no matter how much you or I disagree with her, the cult that follows Coulter cannot be denied. She is a New York Times best-selling author and one of the most notable female members of the Republican Party. She was one of the headliners at the recent CPAC conference (but when your competition is a teenager who has a dream about the Republican Party and Stephen Baldwin, it’s not really saying that much).

What's that people say? The apple doesn't fall far from the tree?

Or the nut.

That’s why I like her. She really twists the tails of Democrats. She is always good for a laugh.

Well said. She is almost always 3 steps ahead of her opponent.

I thought there was some kind of rule or something about mandatory pictures of Ann Coulter whenever her name was mentioned?

I LOVE Coulter. She is the greatest.

Moonbat Daughter-of-McNutjob on the other hand is a loser.

MOST Republican women are prettier and brighter than their combat-booted Democrap sisters. And they also have functioning brains.

She admitted that she VOTED for sKerry in 2004. How in the hell can she have any iota of conservatism in her plump little body if she can justify in her mind a vote for that loser??

Good points.

Which then points out how illogical it is for a Megan McCain to be offering advice or scolding republicans. That would be the equivalent of heeding the warning from Obama that republicans shouldn't listen to or follow the advice of Limbaugh. Heeding advice from your enemy leads to your destruction.

Ann was on FoxNews about a week ago and dissed Megan for having claimed (on her blog) that being McCain’s daughter was messing up her social life. Ann just said (paraphrase) “Hey, Megan - have you noticed the condition of the country and the economy? We’re not interested in how your father’s loss of the election screwed up your dating...”

Megan is just responding to Ann.

On the positive side - my wife (former liberal) now enjoys Ann Coulter(whom she previously reviled) - so opinions and loyalties do change and Ann does what she does without apology, and that is as it should be.

If this is the Meghan (however she spells it) who is McCain’s daughter, she is an extremely beautiful young woman.

She professed on her blog during the campaign to adore Sarah Palin.

Both she and her father have failed to say a good word about Sarah since they lost. I think he honestly believes that she hurt his campaign.

I don’t believe he has a clue that she was the only thing that energized it at all or had a chance of saving it.

I never liked McCain much and I almost despise him now because of how he treated Sarah.

This Megan girl ... I will say this: she adores her father and what he thinks goes for her as well.

But she is far from homely. No need to say that... most of us would kill to be that pretty.

I get annoyed when so many freeper guys (who probably have trouble getting through a door) call a girl like Megan fat.

The pictures posted were the most unflattering I’ve seen of her and probably chosen for that reason. I could find ten in which she loves like a girl with a nice figure on the full side.

Why can’t we content ourselves with calling her a ditz?

The words “shallow” and “airhead” come to mind. Sounds like high school, where everyone tried to be hip and part of the in crowd.

I wonder how important "hip" and "cool" will be when all these college age kids have to find jobs and Mom and Dad have to cut them off because the money is all gone. Maybe some of them will have to apply for college loans because the 401K's are being wiped out.

"Reality" is about to trump "hip"

Not me...but I have a natural beauty. She, on the other hand has a painted face and bleached hair that makes her look like any other bimbo in Hollywood.

I'm in my fifties, never have dyed my hair and have never worn make-up. My husband would take me over that peroxide blonde any day of the week.

Megan,
The people that you are trying to appeal to believe that Che Guevera is "hip." Most adults have long gotten past trying to fit in with "hip."

As for your political analysis, thanks, but no thanks.
