In fact, the spontaneous outpouring of resistance with tax tea parties, on conservative talk radio and at conservative blogs is the beginning of a populist conservative revolt. The key is to enlist America’s natural conservatives.

As a reminder:

* The organizers of these events are unpaid volunteers, many doing this for the first time.
* There is no one whose job it is to do outreach. Any outreach that is getting done is being done by unpaid volunteers who are freely giving of their time.
* If you see a job that isn’t getting done, volunteer to do it.
* In most cases, this means that you just start doing it…like everyone else here.
* However, if others in your area are already working together, it’s a good idea to get in touch to arrange for a division of labor and to avoid re-duplication.

I was at the Gov’s last town hall meeting, I actually had the chance to pin him down on the toll issue. It was live on WIVB Ch4.

This is exactly how the Rochester Tea Party came together! One guy suggested a date, today, because Gov. Paterson is going to be in town and the word spread via the blogs. None of us doing this are big-shots, we're just regular folks who care about freedom and are concerned about the huge advance of big government and socialism. This really is a true grassroots effort and nothing like the "astroturf" campaigns from the left, ie. the video with the kids singing praises about Obama. That was so friggin' contrived, it made me want to barf!

Thanks for the link, abb!

You're right, nobody is getting paid to organize the Tea Parties. Heck, we're actually spending money out of our own pockets for sign materials and other supplies.

This is the start of a true, grass roots conservative revolution!

I just heard from a fellow Tea Partier whose ride fell through due to extenuating circumstances. Is there anybody coming to the Rochester Tea Party that’s near Brockport that can give her a ride? Please ping me if you can.

Thanks!

Rochester Tea Party

A small group of Rochester area political bloggers and blog followers held a protest across the river from the convention center to coincide with the governor’s town hall meeting.

The Rochester Tea Party, as they called it, protested big government, the federal economic stimulus package, and sent a message to Governor Paterson.

“Trim down the size of the government governor. Trim down the size of your agencies. Government has gotten too big and when the biggest employer in the state is the state government, you’ve got problems,” said Charlie, tea party participant.

This tea party was one of others across the nation protesting big government.
