I have great news. We have been approved for April 15th on the steps of the Capitol. I have our permit in hand! We may meet on the Capitol steps and in the grassy areas to the side and across the street. We may not use their electricity or equipment due to insurance reasons so we will just have to be loud.
I do have permission to set up about 3 tables for information and sign-in sheets, about 20 chairs should we need to seat a band, and 1 'display' that can be about 6' x 8'. That's in case we wanted to make a focal point/stage area. I think it might be good to display large, old-fashioned bags of tea..like a 50 pound bag or something. Maybe Ryan will be interested in doing a display for us.
We can begin advertising that date to our family and friends. Please don't contact radio and television stations until we've written up a PSA and guidelines for an interview. We should have that this weekend.
It's coming together...maybe not exactly as we envisioned but I think these changes are still good for us. It shows our resolve to make things happen under any circumstance!
Hope you all have a great day!

C’mon FReepers!
Push, push, push!
Hi y’all!
I noticed nothing planned for NOLA? I have seen on some other tea party notices that they are thinking about having conservative guest speakers, do we have anything lined up for Baton Rouge?
I’m not directly involved with organizing the event, but have been in email contact with them. Sign up on the website and either post a message or email the organizers with questions/suggestions. Good people, all of them!
Wonderful. I plan on attending the April 15, Tea Party. Please keep me informed as to location and time.
We need one for Jefferson on the eve of a tax vote on April 4th. There are several measures to tax homeowners only to provide transportation to the handicapped. It is a $3 million milage continuation. I’d also like to know what they did with all the thousands of extra property tax dollars they collected from Jeff. Parish homeowners when their property taxes went up by sometimes 1000 percent.
I haven’t seen anything online yet about organizing one in the NOLA area. I did see something online recommending that anyone who wants to attend a tea party who doesn’t have one in their town to just set up at the local post office on 15 April...it would be a start but hopefully you could organize something? maybe give some thought to calling WRNO once you have a plan?
