Rep. Maxine Waters defends work with banks
The Los Angeles congresswoman denies having influence over Bush administration officials in the Treasury Department and the issuing of bailout funds to OneUnited Bank.

Reporting from Los Angeles and Washington -- Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Los Angeles) today defended her efforts to help minority-owned banks -- including one with ties to her husband - survive the financial crisis, and scoffed at the notion that she could sway the Bush administration's actions.

"Although both my supporters and detractors often refer to me as influential, the truth is that I had no influence on what Bush administration officials in the Treasury Department or other departments did," she said in a statement.

OneUnited did not receive any federal money at that time, but by mid-December, it had received $12 million in bailout funds.

House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) said in an interview Thursday that he advised Waters last fall to "stay out of it" because he knew her husband had served on the bank board.

Frank said Waters was concerned about the plight of minority-owned banks, as was he.

"She acknowledged that 'Sidney had been on the board. I could have a conflict here,' " Frank said. "I said, 'Fine, just stay out of it, I'll deal with it.' "

Noting that OneUnited is based in Boston, he said, "I wasn't, as chairman of the banking committee, not going to do all I could to keep the only black-owned bank in my area alive."

Treasury spokesman Andrew Williams declined to discuss details of how OneUnited received the bailout but said the award resulted from the same "strict procedure" followed in the Troubled Asset Relief Program.

"I maintain that my advocacy on behalf of small, women, minority and community banks is appropriate," she said.

Maybe the FBI should confirm that.

This woman is a bitter rascist. She is a pure communist in my opinion. A hydra with many heads all full of venom. Her nasty filthy hands are all over the housing mortgage failure. She wants to nationalize private industries....not just banks. She would take from anybody to give it to her non-producing voters. This is the threat to America.

Marxist witch queen.

“”Although both my supporters and detractors often refer to me as influential, the truth is that I had no influence on what Bush administration officials in the Treasury Department or other departments did,” she said in a statement.”

Ineffective and proud of it. (extra points for honesty though)

But no one will say a word because she’s black, and she tosses the race card around so often she needs rotator cuff surgery. Just once, just one Republican with the cubes to demand her resignation and then stick to the demands when the criticism comes. Just once. I guess I’ll be like Linus in the Pumpkin Patch........

This is another Murtha situation. The only way Maxine Waters goes is through a felony conviction or by dying in office.

Although both my supporters and detractors often refer to me as influential, the truth is that I am an insane, mumble mouthed, racist. Fixed it for her.

The husband’s main business seems to be advising women and minorities how to suck up government funds:

Ambassador Sidney Williams, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Williams Group. Ambassador Williams provides consulting services to individuals, groups and organizations in finance, government procurement opportunities, and joint venture arrangements for women and minorities. U.S. Ambassador Williams served a successful four and a half year tour as U.S. Ambassador to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. Earlier in his career, Mr. Williams played professional football for six (6) seasons with the Cleveland Browns, including the 1964 National Football League Championship, and later with the Washington Redskins, Baltimore Colts and Pittsburgh Steelers, before being inducted into Southern University’s Athletic Hall of Fame. Mr. Williams earned a BA degree from Southern University and an MS degree from Pepperdine University. Mr. Williams is married to Congresswoman Maxine Waters (Democrat-California). He is a member of the Association of Black American Ambassadors; a member of the national Association of Colored People (NAACP); a member of Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity; a lifetime member of Southern University Alumni and a past member of the Board of Directors of Southwest College Foundation.

She’s ugly as sin too, a reflection of her inner being. I’ll bet she lives like a queen in Watts Compton or whatever she represents. I’ll bet she and her husband could be prosecuted for a thousand crimes but she’s too big and too black...is untouchable

the 0bama caste.
the 0bama friends.
the 0bama class.

however you name it, they’re a group that can flout the law and get away with it because they support 0bama.

the rule of law is dead while 0bama is pres. now, law is whatever 0bama says it is. if a conservative had done what maxine or geithner or...pick a cabinet member...had done, they’d be in jail (heck, Rush has done NONE of this and they’re gunnin for him!)

btw, have you noticed that when 0bama is on TV, reading to you, that he NEVER looks you in the eye? what is he hiding?
