The orphaned logs sat in the river for 50+ years. Now that some one has shown enterprise to extract the navigation hazards and turn a buck, the State shows interest.
F'n government!

Unbelievable.
That said... I watched those guys, and while he may know some about milling old logs into pretty things, they didn’t know a *thing* about running a boat. Was rather a comedy of errors.

I will admit that I have only seen the promos for this show. But based on the promos, the people on this show are the biggest idiots alive.

Can’t have people salvaging logs because...well...we just can’t.

And now we are so dependent on that same government that people call them when McDonald's runs out of chicken nuggets.
We are sooooo screwed.

Probably some gaddamn-dipshit-tree-hugger-gypsy punk ratted them out. This is all the more reason to saw the friggin' trees down while the diseased little fags are sitting in them, protesting.

Just watching this last night I wondered, Why the heck hasn't someone taken these things before. The stupid guy screaming at his kid and was bragging that the logs are worth $10K a piece. Then they ran out of gas!
Ssshhhhhh!

Yeah - that was pretty clear!
Ridiculous for the state to have any interest at all in logs that have been submerged for 50 years. Heck, some of them were navigation hazards, and it’s a favor to remove them.
To: GSWarrior
They can’t because the govt didn’t get their piece of the action.

So what? They did the labor, and I am assuming they own the land the river’s on (or had permission). It’s not government’s right to confiscate property because “they didnt have a permit (pay the tax + register)”.

No - they didn’t own the land, it’s on a ‘public waterway’ the river.
To: llevrok
all these companies are bringing them in and i suspect some churches too.

Will there be a budget buster to build an evidence room for the illegal logs?
Will the logs will have to be destroyed so that no one can benefit from the ill gotten gains?
OR, will there be millions spent replacing them from whence they came (environmental studies first, of course)?
24 old logs.
And they voted (not the logs... I hope)

Because they aren't sitting at home looking for welfare?
To: gridlock
Having family in the timber industry, I can say that they really overplay a lot of the dramatic elements. I’ve also been told that it’s a surprise that OSHA hasn’t come down on them for some of the stunts they have pulled on the program. However, I don’t think that the label “biggest idiots alive” is warranted at all. Have you ever tried to do this kind of work? As a teen one summer, I worked as a little scrub doing clean-up work on the landings and it kicked my ass. And that was nothing compared to the real jobs of the cutters, choker setters, etc. One thing that is very true is the level of danger in that line of work. I have nothing but respect for these guys.
