Any "losses" will just be made up in other markets, like heroine. Like any businessman, if you loose part or all of one market, you find another.

The cartels are ALREADY moving cocaine and heroin and meth to the tune of about $5 billion. Demand is ALREADY being met. There simply isn't the upside left to replace $8.6 billion.

But to think that the government will have "reasonable taxes" on MJ, or coming soon, ANY SIn tax market is absurd.

States are hurting desperately for revenues. If they legalize pot, it will be for that reason. Therefore, it is in their interest to tax wisely.

It's been done with alcohol, so it is not as absurd as you maintain.

“We have no government armed with the power capable of contending with human passions which are unbridled by morality and true religion. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

— John Adams***

That’s pretty funny that you wrote that considering the fact that John Adams grew hemp. I think your definition of morality excludes John Adam’s definition of liberty.

Below IS the Christian view on the subject. Man has been “consuming” marijuana since the Beginning, and if you don’t believe in the Creation, as I suspect, then the time line for human pot usage goes back countless eons, to when we were nothing more than tiny ground crawling omnivorous critters.

Genesis 1:11 And God said, Let grass come up on the earth, and plants producing seed, and fruit-trees giving fruit, in which is their seed, after their sort: and it was so. 1:12 And grass came up on the earth, and every plant producing seed of its sort, and every tree producing fruit, in which is its seed, of its sort: and God saw that it was good. 1:29 - “Throughout the earth I give you all plants that bear seed and every tree that bears fruit with seed: they shall be yours for food”.

Man has been “consuming” marijuana since the beginning. Everyone’s genetic makeup is “in tune” with this plant...God made sure of it.

As you were so quick to jump down my throat for no particular reason, I must post another link for you to diss on. Hope you don’t blow a gasket as this might be the answer to the upcoming world food shortage. A better alternative to the “Soilent Green” scenario, don’t you think? You can get in line for your Government rations, but I’ll be chewing on something much better...

Nearly half of all Americans have admitted to smoking marijuana in their life time. How many deaths have you ever heard of that were caused by marijuana overdose?

Skewed argument. That doesn't mean they were cronic tokers. I smoked it too, doesn't mean I endorse it.

"Cut the judgment B.S. and worry about what you're doing to your own body. It is alright to criticize Christian brothers and point them to the right Scripture for guidance, but it is not alright to chastise point the finger out of hate."

Who's judging, I'm just pointing out my observations based on real life witnessing. It ain't "hate", although I really "hate" to see how some friends lives have been totaly messed up from pot, either using themselves or having to bury their dead kids whose drug of entry was pot.

And if you really want to thump your bible, Read your body is your temple part.

My own personal experience, having done both, is that when drunk the drive is reckless, high speed and likely prone to involve some kind of ‘Road Rage’ incident. When stoned the only problem I’ve seen is the possibility of getting a ticket for going too slow.***

You tend to get lost a lot more when you are stoned too. I think it should still be like a DUI, btw, but I see your point that Alcohol is definately a much more harmful and addictive drug than pot, for the most part. There are those people out there who will drink and smoke irresponsibly, but that does not speak for everyone else.

Liberals believe in as big a government as is possible...

Read the thread.

Read the many other threads that prove Libs are in support of higher taxes.

I’d like to think that Libs are for small government. But NOOOOoooo. They basically want to waive the white flag of surrender regarding the WOD. They are ready to open the borders to legalize pot.

Oh... And to tax it.

I keep throwing out this challenge to all Libs:

Besides being a moral evil, what good can some out of legalizing dope if the goal is HIGHER TAXES?

It’s not just the pot they want to legalize.

It’s the other hard drugs like Cocaine, Heroine and Meth that are next in line. ***

So even if this were true and some states decided to legalize those; which I think very very few would for a long time, because those drugs are used way less than pot; then you would have a situation where the drug users would simply live in those places where the drugs were legal and you could live in a place where they are illegal. Problem solved for both sides. Cocaine used to be legal too, btw.

You have it all wrong again, misguided one. There is only one unforgivable sin, which is blaspheming the Holy Spirit, which I have never done, nor ever will. Cease and desist with your hot tongue or I will complain to the Moderator.

Paul proscribes to the Austrian School of economics. It’s the opposite of Republicratic Socialism. He is active in the Ludwig von Mises Institute.

Don’t worry, I don’t expect you to grasp the difference between Socialism and its opposite, nor do I expect you to know who von Mises was.

Edit out the truth with your smarmy “quotes” if you like, it won’t change the truth.

I don’t smoke pot and I couldn’t care less about marijuana being legal, but I’d sure like to be able to grow about ten acres of Cannabis Indica (industrial hemp) for cordage and oil seed to see how it grows without fertilizer or irrigation.

Oh yeah, as if a nation full of lazy, tired pot heads will vote in a government (full of non-pot heads) that will get rid of the welfare state...

It was legal in George Washington's day, and that didn't seem to be a problem back then either. I think the problem with the welfare state lies more in the realm of public education and it's brainwashing of the nation's youth. If you separated the powers back to the way they used to be regulated, you would not have half the federal involvement in people's lives you do now, and therefore, you would not have the beliefs propagated by the federally backed public schools.

People would value hard work and personal achievement more and those kind of people don't let drugs like alcohol or pot ruin their achievement. I can't see how a motivated individual like Michael Phelps has been made lazy by being a pot user, btw. That's just a myth, because the motivated person will not let himself get that way, while the unmotivated person will always find something to ruin himself with. It all starts with a person's beliefs.

“Free Markets???

See what BlackElk said in post 98.

Explains. A. Lot.”

His post is a diatribe backed by no evidence having nothing to do with the thread.

I can either believe that Ron Paul says what he believes or believe that some fellow going by the name of BlackElk on an internet discussion board has divine knowledge of the unexpressed true beliefs of someone I would be willing to bet he/she has never met.

I know a few old potheads from high school.

So, the fact that pot was illegal then and now - doesn't seem to have done anything to stop your friends from wasting their lives. Where does making pot illegal make sense from a standpoint of keeping people from getting it?

There will always be weak, lazy, addictive people - but I know quite a few pot smokers that work hard, many of them own their own businesses & are there - working their tails off - 6 & 7 days a week. It's sad for the people you know personally that they have ended up the way they did - but I suspect you probably know a lot more people that smoke pot than you realize. If it isn't a problem for someone (which it isn't for many, many people) - then you are not likely going to even realize that they are pot smokers.

You are being quite broad in your generalizations.
