The cartels are ALREADY moving cocaine and heroin and meth to the tune of about $5 billion. Demand is ALREADY being met. There simply isn't the upside left to replace $8.6 billion.
But to think that the government will have "reasonable taxes" on MJ, or coming soon, ANY SIn tax market is absurd.
States are hurting desperately for revenues. If they legalize pot, it will be for that reason. Therefore, it is in their interest to tax wisely.
It's been done with alcohol, so it is not as absurd as you maintain.

That’s pretty funny that you wrote that considering the fact that John Adams grew hemp. I think your definition of morality excludes John Adam’s definition of liberty.
Below IS the Christian view on the subject. Man has been “consuming” marijuana since the Beginning, and if you don’t believe in the Creation, as I suspect, then the time line for human pot usage goes back countless eons, to when we were nothing more than tiny ground crawling omnivorous critters.

Who's judging, I'm just pointing out my observations based on real life witnessing. It ain't "hate", although I really "hate" to see how some friends lives have been totaly messed up from pot, either using themselves or having to bury their dead kids whose drug of entry was pot.

My own personal experience, having done both, is that when drunk the drive is reckless, high speed and likely prone to involve some kind of ‘Road Rage’ incident. When stoned the only problem I’ve seen is the possibility of getting a ticket for going too slow.***
You tend to get lost a lot more when you are stoned too. I think it should still be like a DUI, btw, but I see your point that Alcohol is definately a much more harmful and addictive drug than pot, for the most part. There are those people out there who will drink and smoke irresponsibly, but that does not speak for everyone else.

So even if this were true and some states decided to legalize those; which I think very very few would for a long time, because those drugs are used way less than pot; then you would have a situation where the drug users would simply live in those places where the drugs were legal and you could live in a place where they are illegal. Problem solved for both sides. Cocaine used to be legal too, btw.

I don’t smoke pot and I couldn’t care less about marijuana being legal, but I’d sure like to be able to grow about ten acres of Cannabis Indica (industrial hemp) for cordage and oil seed to see how it grows without fertilizer or irrigation.

It was legal in George Washington's day, and that didn't seem to be a problem back then either. I think the problem with the welfare state lies more in the realm of public education and it's brainwashing of the nation's youth. If you separated the powers back to the way they used to be regulated, you would not have half the federal involvement in people's lives you do now, and therefore, you would not have the beliefs propagated by the federally backed public schools.
People would value hard work and personal achievement more and those kind of people don't let drugs like alcohol or pot ruin their achievement. I can't see how a motivated individual like Michael Phelps has been made lazy by being a pot user, btw. That's just a myth, because the motivated person will not let himself get that way, while the unmotivated person will always find something to ruin himself with. It all starts with a person's beliefs.

I can either believe that Ron Paul says what he believes or believe that some fellow going by the name of BlackElk on an internet discussion board has divine knowledge of the unexpressed true beliefs of someone I would be willing to bet he/she has never met.
So, the fact that pot was illegal then and now - doesn't seem to have done anything to stop your friends from wasting their lives. Where does making pot illegal make sense from a standpoint of keeping people from getting it?
There will always be weak, lazy, addictive people - but I know quite a few pot smokers that work hard, many of them own their own businesses & are there - working their tails off - 6 & 7 days a week. It's sad for the people you know personally that they have ended up the way they did - but I suspect you probably know a lot more people that smoke pot than you realize. If it isn't a problem for someone (which it isn't for many, many people) - then you are not likely going to even realize that they are pot smokers.
You are being quite broad in your generalizations.
