Obama administration missteps indicate a disturbing and dangerous trend

When predators hunt, they look for signs of weakness in their prey. Big cats carefully observe the herd in search of the straggler, the sick or wounded and the very young because they are the easiest to catch and kill.

On the world stage, political predators operate in a very similar manner. National leaders and their staffs watch and test for weakness among adversaries and allies. In fact, a substantial portion of the activities we call "spying" are devoted to information gathering and analysis for those very purposes.

It is no secret that any perception of weakness in the president of the United States has a profound impact on the behavior of our enemies and our allies. Our enemies tend to become emboldened in ways that can threaten peace, and our allies tend to retreat from their commitments to us, so peace can be threatened in that way as well.

Historians know that presidential reluctance to admit error has more to do with the bad consequences of confirming mistakes than it does with chief executive ego. Wiggle room is a highly desirable commodity in international relations, and perception of weakness can be as fatal to diplomacy as it is to prey animals.

In the big scheme of things, the mistakes made by President Barack Obama thus far are relatively minor, but they are forming a pattern that shows serious weakness. It is a weakness that may be interpreted by our friends and our enemies as indicative of a flaw they can use to their own advantage.

We know about the appointment exceptions made for lobbyists and tax dodgers that culminated with the withdrawal of Sen. Tom Daschle, who was both a lobbyist and a tax dodger.

We knew this would happen, but 52% of the voters disregarded every warning for "hope and change" above all else. I "hope" that the worst "change" will befall the dupes and fools that voted for this neophyte hack.

This is going to be a rough-and-tumble time, and the learning curve is enormously steep for the now failing nascent obama regime.

They came to office, highly successful campaigners, but woefully unprepared for the demands of governance. We have accepted them, but with a grimace and a sense of foreboding. It may be necessary, before the dust settles, for parts of this nation to detach itself from the part that still sees the failing nascent obama regime as a viable government.

They are not, and much of their program will be stillborn, for want of the means to rectify this error in judgment exercised by voters concentrated in specific areas of the country, and the headlong rush to impose their will on individuals that cannot reconcile what is happening with the lessons of history and experience.

Aristocracy, and the use of beguiling magic to impose limitations and shackles on those who are NOT aristocracy, always ends badly for the aristoracy.

The words of the Declaration of Independence take on a fervent meaning once again.

0bama’s lack of experience, naivety and mediocre intelligence might be a good thing. All things considered, I’d rather have a commie idiot than a shrewd commie at the helm. I believe we will see a new surge of Arab countries start or ramp up their nuclear programs in the coming years since the US will be “distracted” and Europe will have all it can do to keep itself afloat.
