Far right joins Israel coalition
BBC ^ | Monday, March 16, 2009 | unattributed

Posted on 03/15/2009 6:47:08 PM PDT by SunkenCiv

Mr Netanyahu was prime minister in the late 1990s Israel's Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu has signed a coalition deal with the far-right Yisrael Beiteinu party, officials say.

Under the agreement, Yisrael Beiteinu leader Avigdor Lieberman would become foreign minister, said officials from Mr Netanyahu's Likud party.

He is a strong supporter of the Israeli settler movement and opposes exchanging land for peace with the Palestinians.

Likud still needs support from other parties to form majority in parliament.

Yisrael Beiteinu would get five other cabinet posts, including internal security, infrastructure, tourism, and the integration of new immigrants.

Mr Netanyahu has also been seeking the support of the centrist Kadima party but earlier talks ended without agreement.

Kadima leader Tzipi Livni has said her party would be "a responsible opposition".

Kadima supports the formation of a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza, which is opposed by Likud.

Mr Netanyahu has a deadline of 3 April to form a government in the wake of elections in February.

“the far-right Yisrael Beiteinu party”

I guess it’s fair to call the BBC “The NAZI left”.

Lieberman’s politics are ok, but his mental state may not be. This is a man who punched a 12 year old in the face.

Most of the Founding Fathers would be considered “far right” or “Christian Right” if they arrived in a a time machine tomorrow.

The truth is Avigdor Lieberman does support a Palestinian state on the basis of an equivalent exchange of territory and population. But this is ignored by the MSM. If anything, he is a moderate.

Actually Lieberman isnt very far right at all. He is very anti-Israeli arab but other than that....he is for gay marriage, pig meat and a palestinian state complete with removal of mass Jews from Judea and Samaria.

But we are talking the BBC here.

No - what he wants is to keep Jews where they are but redraw the borders so Israel's predominantly Arab areas become part of the Palestinian state. Israel would annex parts of Judea and Samaria populated by Jews. That's perfectly sensible. Of course, its a moot point because the Palestinians are not interested in a two-state solution. They want to eliminate Israel.

For the Christians in the land, the question is who will get the dept of the interior. For the last few years it has been in the hands of some real Christian haters, ones that openly violate Israel’s laws to drive Christians out of the land. Omert let them have free reign and never pulled them in for their flagrant violations of the law.

Now we all wait with baited breath to see if BB’s will show support for the Christians who supported him in his dark hours.

Once again the BBC uses code words like “far right” to dismiss politicians it doesn’t like. If Lieberman is “far right”, then what is Hamas? As far as know, Lieberman hasn’t advocated launching rockets at random locations, sending suicide bombers, using Arabs as human shields or advocated genocide. The BBC uses entirely different standards for Israel than it does for Muslims.

Oh, Lieberman is such a softy :^)

No, it is not sensible. The Palestinian people at large work in Israel and are not unhappy. They are treated well. The powers that be ... hate Israel and are determined to force thm into the sea.

As to the sensible part ... if Israel did as you suggest all of Israel would be directly under daily attack due to proximity of the rockets new location possibilities.. The rockets have not stopped ... now they are not in a good position to hit ‘Main’ targets. That would change with the agreement you support.

VERY BAD IDEA. How would you like to live 24 hours a day under siege?

We make the mistake in thinking that the Hamas, PTA., etc., are reasonable people that will keep their word and be respectable ... not so.

They believe to die as a martyr is glorious and the only sure way to be welcomed by Allah. Huge difference in belief systems. Most sane people desire to live. Not so.
