A woman with "a heart for Jesus" was shot in the stomach Sunday by an errant arrow that came flying out of the Bronx sky as she was dropping off churchgoers at a nursing home.

Denise Delgado-Brown, 50, of Yonkers, clutched the shaft of the 30-inch long arrow that pierced her 2 inches above her bellybutton and screamed for her friends to call 911.

"They shot me with an arrow," Delgado-Brown moaned incredulously as she staggered behind her maroon Kia SUV and collapsed.

-snip-

As night fell, the phantom archer remained on the loose.

Sounds like some brainless jackass shot an arrow nearly straight up with no regard for where it came down. Good luck to this woman and one hopes the jackass is brainless enough to brag about his actions to someone with a conscience.

It was undoubtedly shot from an "assault bow".

The shooter probably had a high-capacity quiver filled with cop-killer arrows, too.

This story makes a clear case for the government to step in and create a program to start registering bow and arrows. Also I think there is an opening where the government could collect new revenues by placing a tax on arrows and of course pass a law that all arrows be coded for traceability. Clearly the US has a tremendous bow and arrow crime problem which can be tied back to the Bush administrations total incompetence in formulating a comprehensive bow and arrow anti-crime/control program.

You know what would have been neat? If just before it happened she would have said “There ain’t a redskin within 20 miles of here.” That would have been neat.

Denise Delgado is alive, alive!

When will Congress get serious and enact tough bow-and-arrow control legislation?

1. The arrow shooter should be whipped in public with a bullwhip.

2. Denise is lucky it was not a hunting tip.

3. It is so unusual for a person to have that kind of weapon, the arrows are very distinctive. I bet many people know that the arrow shooter (I can not call him an archer) has a bow and know of his arrows.

4. If he is a local, he will be identified very quickly.

5. I really hate it when someone does something this stupid with a weapon. It is bad enough with all the fascist liberals without someone doing this. It gives us all a bad name. The liberals love to stereotype against those with whom they disagree.

“The pointy projectile was facing downward when it struck Delgado-Brown, indicating it was descending after being fired in a high arch, a source said.”

Sounds like some kid pointed it skyward & let it fly. Much as people do with guns at celebrations.

Real DUMB!!!

To Mom & Dad: If you are gonna let little Johnnie/Janie have a dangerous weapon, how about giving them some training & supervision! It’s the right thing to do, & a lot cheaper than legal costs.

I hope you were just being sarcastic, however if not:

1. The arrow shooter should be whipped in public with a bullwhip.

Agreed

2. Denise is lucky it was not a hunting tip.

what, are you kidding me? in the middle of the Bronx...

3. It is so unusual for a person to have that kind of weapon, the arrows are very distinctive. I bet many people know that the arrow shooter (I can not call him an archer) has a bow and know of his arrows.

Yes, that's why thousands of bows are sold every year. I Have 5 myself. Distinctive arrows? get real, dime a dozen....

4. If he is a local, he will be identified very quickly.

yeah, right

5. I really hate it when someone does something this stupid with a weapon. It is bad enough with all the fascist liberals without someone doing this. It gives us all a bad name. The liberals love to stereotype against those with whom they disagree.

Agreed, it was a very stupid thing to do but this is the only incident like this I've ever heard about

I hope she recovers. Has the police looked into the possibility that it could have been the Green Arrow?
