Newt Gingrich to Co-Sponsor Tea Parties

While the Tax Day Tea Parties have been taking the nation by storm, Newt Gingrich has decided to step up to the plate. In a video released today, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vKr95e5aIE, Gingrich shows his support with his own message. The Tax Day Tea Parties hosted by the DontGo Movement, TCOT, and Smart Girl Politics will occur around the country on April 15. Presently Michelle Malkin, Dana Loesch, GOPUSA, and Newt Gingrich are sponsoring the movements.

Gingrich says, "Just as the Contract with America brought an end to Democrat control of the House of Representatives in 1994, I see the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition as the vehicle by which conservative activists can bring about the end of Democrat control of the House of Representatives in 2010."

National Communications Director Juliana Johnson states, "This is a major turn for the Tea Parties. Newt Gingrich becoming a part of this is confirming to all of us that the Tea Parties are indeed being heard around the country and that the movement will continue to grow and grow."

The Tax Day Tea Parties were a result of Rick Santelli's call to arms for Republicans with the first batch occurring on February 27th with thousands of activists showing up in over 20 states across the country. The April 15th Tea Parties are expected to attract tens of thousands of people in over 140 cities.

I’m planning my little tea party on April 22, 2009. Why? Cause it’s Earth Day and why not kill two birds with one stone. Fire up the Bar-B-Que. Warm up the Earth. Then dump some tea bags into the hot coal and watch those suckers burn. I know you should be dumping tea into water but this way I can piss off so many libs all at once.

Glad to see Newt jump on board. The only thing is it will be ammo for those people who say "See it's a Republican thing!"

The organizers of the Tea Parties stress that this is a movement for anyone who is mad and fed up with government spending regardless of party.

There are people who are fed up with both Dems and Reps who might would join in, but not if they think it is to promote a Rep agenda. We need BOTH parties to put an end to the spending!

I would prefer it if Sarah Palin is the Co-Sponsor instead.

And it’ll get the Anti-Newt Republicrats in a lather, too.

(ie: probably all the Huckabee supporters)

After all, he got a divorce... and appeared in a Globull warming commercial with Pelousy. Death to the infidel!!!

Why do I get the feeling that Newt is in this for himself?

How much money do Gingrich, et al, give to become so-called sponsors?

I have a lot more in common with Gingrich than I do than the clowns in power now...

Newt's always got one finger in the wind and one finger up his ass.

The Contract For America was a brilliant tactic in '92, but "President" Newt's time has come and gone.

Might as well not look a gift horse in the mouth. If Gingrich wants to somehow use this to his own political advantage, let’s use him to our own.

How can we use an embarrassment to our advantage?

Agreed, in part. Using the hard efforts of others to jumpstart his own career—if that is what is is and I would not put it past him, sadly—bugs me...
