We had a bill like that when I was in Idaho. It related to welfare benefits. Failed.
I dubbed it: The Urine the Money Bill.

If they do this for welfare, SSI and disability, than I’m all for it..but if not..it’s a very bad idea.

heard about the Smart Grid? Another fine piece of socialism eh? And Obama’s “Climate Czar” is a socialist, just a neverending nightmare....
I have a couple of ignorant relatives that are all for Obama. My sister-in-law for example...I asked her if she heard about ‘cap and trade’, she said yes but had no idea what it meant. I cut to the chase about electricity going through the roof soon and to ‘THANK OBAMA’...her response was “let’s not go there”. Her same response through the campaign, she’s real big on words let alone debate, NOT!

I think they should lead by example... drug test all government employees, from president to the welfare recipient.
To: lastchance
I agree. Employees pay for unemployment insurance. I don’t think they should be required to take a drug test.

I agree with this 100%. The military has to be tested, so why not everyone sucking on the gov’s teat.

Go a step farther and have all welfare recipients take drug tests - and if the baby daddy is caught with drugs in your federally subsidized apartment, you lose benefits as well.
Maybe some of these career welfare Mom's will think twice about allowing drug dealers around their collection of children.
To: lastchance
You DO have a point.
Those on unemployment are actually collecting on insurance that they, perhaps indirectly through their employer, have paid the premiums on.
Welfare, on the other hand, is simply a handout of the confiscated wealth of others.

I don't think it is needed. Most employers require a screen at hire and randomly. If they get fired the TWC will want to know why. Just don't approve those that were terminated for drugs for benefits. That said,I think the senator is on to something here though. Let's test Congress, including their leader. I would love to see one pulled off the floor for testing.

Texas paid out 64 million in unemployment checks last week alone Good grief.
I hope like the dickens that the legal status of these "checks" have been ... checked. I doubt it.
