roanoke,va - WASHINGTON (AP) - Now it can be told: The mysterious petty theft that President Barack Obama’s new computer chief committed at age 21 was shoplifting four dress shirts worth $134 from J.C. Penney. A 1996 Montgomery County, Md., police report obtained by The Associated Press on Wednesday under a public records law shows Vivek Kundra was observed by a security guard putting the men’s shirts into a shopping bag and leaving the store without paying. Sgt. Tom Stanton wrote that Kundra was arrested after a brief foot chase and the property was recovered

I’m with you, erman. A shoplifting adult betrays a real dishonesty and thieving lack of character.

BTW, teh FBI arrested two men and searched the DC government office of Vivek Kundra. Those arrested - Yusuf Acar and Sushil Bansal. The investigation is ongoing. Seems Kundra should have known something was going on considering how long Acar’s scheme had been in operation. Then again, Barney Frank allegedly knew nothing of the prostitution ring being operated from his own apartment.

No, a DUI comes from being drunk behind the wheel. You not only put your safety at risk but everyone else on the road with you.

A DUI is not bad luck, it is poor decision making. President Bush obviously overcame his past based on his recent performance. It is his recent performance that he was re-elected on.

Your argument is based on a false premise. It is not stealing versus drinking, it is stealing versus a DUI. You try to minimize one deviant behavior and excuse it while demonizing the other. Have you ever been hit by a drunk driver? Have you lost a loved one because of DUI? Yet, knowing the risks to others, drunks get behind the wheel and lie to themselves thinking they will cause no harm. If you want to talk about honesty, the most dishonest people are drunks who get behind the wheel thinking they will do no harm.

While making the comparison, you ignore recent behavior. Both men are flawed and both had sins in a distant past, yet, you want the past to stick to one but not the other? Sorry, it doesn't work that way.

Why not judge people by who they are and what they are doing now? There is plenty of damning evidence to disqualify this guy and most any democrat. Why is that not enough?

You come off looking extremely petty and just plain silly trying to say one sin committed 20 years ago is worse than another, that one is OK and another will disqualify you for life.

Bottom line is, your logic is flawed. You are holding Republicans to one standard, a lower one, and Democrats to a higher one. This is the very behavior that makes my head spin when it comes to the media, but it's always Republicans held to the higher standard. So what do we do, we demand an even playing field. But even isnt what you want. You are no better than the libs in the press who tilt the news in favor of Dems. This does nothing for our party but make us look exactly like Dims to the uninformed because the bottom line behavior is exactly the same.

My advice to you is to grow up and live in the here and now. Take the plank out of your own eye so you can see clearly when taking the splinter out of others eyes. You are what is wrong with the Republican party. We do not convince others we are different by acting like Democrats. If it's a disgusting practice when Dims do it, it is just as disgusting and vile when Republicans do it.

In all seriousness, the first black President is performing quite stereotypically.

Nothing this African Marxist does at this point is surprising

read my ENTIRE post... it's real simple.

Start at the left hand side of the page and go to the right. If you have a problem with that try this. The side opposite of the hand you pick your nose with... start on that side and read what I said about drunk driving.

I said that both reveal character flaws.

My advice to you is to grow up and live in the here and now. Take the plank out of your own eye so you can see clearly when taking the splinter out of others eyes. You are what is wrong with the Republican party. We do not convince others we are different by acting like Democrats. You just wanted to rant about some BS. So go for it. My advice to YOU is to spit out the vinegar and water and quit acting like a douche bag. If you're going to flame me at least flame me for what I've written.

I'll repeat myself... BOTH DUI and stealing reveal character flaws. If having to chose between a drunk and a thief I'll take NEITHER.

I said that I'd take the man that admitted his inability to drink without getting behind the wheel and killing someone versus an unrepentant thief. I'll always take the guy that accepts responsibility for his actions and deals with it.

As far as the plank in the eye and the splinter in my finger or whatever... puhleeze. Ya just had to get the Christian thing in cause we know that you've got that market cornered also.

Find something or somebody else to rant on... like maybe go to a parking lot and yell at some kids or something cause it looks like you're just itching for an excuse to rant on about how we should overlook dems and not be judgmental about character issues.

Hey, we got a guy that smoked pot, "blew some coke" and might have even tried heroin presently occupying the Oval Office. I'm not worried about that. I'm more worried that he believes the utopian fantasy of communal living as taught by Charles Fourier,Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels

trust me on this. I'm not what is wrong with the Republican party. I'm not in the Republican party. I'm a conservative that's it. Nothing fancy, just a squirrel trying to get his nut.

sounds like you're just like me... but the other way around.

At *no* point did I defend him

Obviously you did, when you lashed into me endlessly for questioning his background, including his country of origin, which is clearly relevant when one is being considered for a high level government position. You're doing it again now, as well, whether you are ever willing to admit you're defending him again or not. If you even understood the basic fact there are rightfully higher levels of scrutiny applied to nationalized citizens before they are granted a security clearance you might realize how silly you look defending the guy, not to mention all these other issues that have arisen since which further expose him as a horrible selection, but do as you wish.

You questioning his nationality was the *only* thing that I questioned as did SWC and others. Thats not defending him thats calling out a biggot..

“If you even understood the basic fact there are rightfully higher levels of scrutiny applied to nationalized citizens before they are granted a security clearance you might realize how silly you look defending the guy”

The grandson and husband of an immigrant I full well understand *reasonable* questions. Not the regular immigrant bashing you take part in. Trust me *I* am not the one coming across as foolish in these exchanges...

try taking your own advice. You didn't even read my post and went off half-cocked like the simple minded, rant ranger you seem to be.

How 'bout this. Maybe you'll understand this... I am rubber, you are glue... bounces off to me and sticks to you.

Now walk to the medicine cabinet and pull out the Lithium and Geodon, take a swig of Geritol and try to post something that makes sense. Just ignore those silly little voices in your head.

If he stole candy at 7 I might be inclined to agree with you, but shoplifting is crossing the line. To me it’s indicative of deeply rooted problem. IOW, at 21 you should be getting in trouble with traffic tickets, maybe a drunken incident or two which I would understand, but most of us have never shoplifted, even at the tender age of 21.

I give him a pass on stolen shirts at age 21....I hate this process of dirt digging for past sins....

Do you think that was the only time he ever shoplifted anything?

I would suspect that he had done it 100 times before he got caught.

See Post# 7

You can not get a security clearance for the Department of Defense with a criminal record. How, then, is he cleared for the type of position he has?
