The people that are ranting on this thread are the ones suggesting that there is going to be a civil war.

Unlike you, we are facing the reality of the situation. Our populist government is not ever going to restore our constitutional republic IMHO. Nobody here, I think, is very comfortable talking about this. Talking about the "problem" now, trying to calmly think thru all the possibilities while there is still time, beats the possibility of shooting at each other later - in a hurry.

Splitting the country won’t work. Nobody has any new ideas on how to run the country. A conservative country would end up just like the old one, with a corrupt government and freedom taken away. Afterall, what state didn’t give Obama at least 1/3rd of the vote? Can you imagine all the people on welfare in Texas or Mississippi just accepting that they will be cut off? Do you have any idea how many liberals and moderates there are in even the most conservative state?

I’m Canadian so I can say this without having my patriotism challenged: The U.S. constitution has flaws, and its not just the stuff that was added in later years. If it didn’t, it would not be so easy to violate. For one thing it is too vague, for another, it puts to much trust in politicians.

Like I said, people here want a do over of the revolutionary war or civil war, they don’t want to deal with the world as it is.

The MSM and the sheeple are not ready for this kind of discussion. However, I do think, with JR blessing, FR is the perfect forum to discuss this current unpleasantness rationally. Those that poopoo and belittle can listen and maybe learn.

“. . . .and I’ve discussed this with those close to me.”

My entire not so politically active extended family are amazingly wide awake to the situation too.

The feeling is quite dreadfully palpable among those who never realized something like this could ever happen, again.

My Fellow Freepers: Let's stop talking treason ...

Our forefathers committed treason also.

Heck, I’m sympathetic with you, but where are the Jeffersons and Washingtons and Franklins now?

And besides, even if a conservative nation did better than a liberal nation, both would be considerably less wealthy and less powerful. Who do you think would find that tolerable?

You have the power to associate with like minded souls and when the government won’t listen you can remove them without committing treason. That is the greatest gift that any person could ever leave his ancestors and I will not besmirch them by comparing our lot with theirs.

The rate of taxation back then was miniscule compared to what we have now, yet our founding fathers were willing to commit treason over it. We are watching our country being destroyed - from confiscatory taxation, increasing regulations suffocating businesses, unions having a stranglehold over private companies, goverment agencies forced to spend billions to communicate in a language that isn't even our own because the government refuses to enforce existing laws....I think we are much less represented than our forefathers were. And as far as elections go, when one side controls the media, the polls, the schools, and is willing to cheat to win - how is that a 'free' election?

You can sit by and watch your country being destroyed. That's your choice. But don't make that choice for the rest of us.

I'm not a socialist. I cannot live in a socialist country. I can live with socialists/liberals I just don't ever want them in power. I would rather live on a dessert Island, by myself than to live in a socialistically governed country.

You grew up in a socialist country, protected by the USA. In like manner, a socialist Canada, a socialist (SSA) States of America, and the CSA (Conservative States of America) could share defense treaties - like NATO. Although we all know who would do the heavy lifting in that scenario. :)

The Founders’ provision you referenced is the Declaration of Independence.

Don't forget the 2nd Amendment. It was never about hunting.

I’m afraid they are purposefully wrecking the economy to create a large body of unemployed and dependent people; then, presto! You may earn your income as a member of the brownshirts. I think that you are Exactly, and I emphasize, exactly correct. I was considering enlisting in a branch of the armed forces the other day while looking through our Newspapers dwindling Job adds. (I have a job, but as I am young, I'm looking into more opportunities). While thinking of joining the military, I thought, "Hey they're always looking for volunteers/employees/patriots (whichever term you use)." The thought then slammed me into reality. I could almost literally here the comments about a civilian force equal in number and funding to the military. I then felt/thought, "That is exactly the plan, disarm the military, crash the economy and force the unemployed to take refuge as you called them "brownshirts." Then, add water and we've got a third world dictatorship. I pray that the opposition will never fail, because I honestly believe this to be the plan. I reckon some will even call on Obama to be a facsimile, if not actually our new King. We must preserve the Constitution of the United States of America, we've given much ground, we must take it back. I'll keep praying it'll be activist and not Revolutionary/Reactionary, whichever is the appropriate term.

The salient question is not if the general rank and file will open fire on fellow Americans; it is if the the general staff would uniformly consent to execute such orders.

The rank and file would be split, but the general outcome would be the same. - death to the poorly organized patriots.

Not so if the brass is not going to follow unconscionable or unlawful orders.

That attitude would filter down in about 3 seconds flat, and then there would be real Hell to pay within the executive branch..

Very well said, my only fear is, we as a nation have let this go on to long. Can we really get out of it without bloodshed? I don’t know, but I pray we can.

Good pic, look how mad these guys look. OK I’m a Navy vet got out in 1990. Most of the guys I knew that stayed in after me, bailed out during the Clinton years. The few that hung on till retirement have all told me that if it had been Obama in the White House and not Clinton they would have left when I did. Geez the cut backs that Bush #1 did to the US Navy is why I got out. Clinton was 5 times worse, and Obama is just getting started. I would like everyone who looks at this post to look for themselves how badly Obama has cut the military budget in only two months in office. That says it all

Only one thing I can add to this statment... AMEN!!!!

Nobody elected King George.
Obama was elected and he gets 4 years to try to push through anything he wants.
We get a chance to elect some people in a year and a half that will say “NO”.

Keep in mind that what our founding fathers did was treason until they won. They had been quite willing to live as subjects of the King. All they wanted was to be heard and to have a voice. When they couldn’t even have that small gift that was given to the subjects who lived in Britian they couldn’t tolerate it and decided it was better to die than to live like that. They knew it was treason which is why Ben Franklin said that we had better hang together or we will all hang seperately.

You have the power to associate with like minded souls and when the government won’t listen you can remove them without committing treason. That is the greatest gift that any person could ever leave his ancestors and I will not besmirch them by comparing our lot with theirs.
