After the United Nations diplomat John Solecki, who had forcefully converted to Islam under the doctrine of the Taliban militants, a Canadian journalist - Beverly Giesbrecht, became the latest Taliban target, with the deadline of March 30 being announced by the militants for her release.
Even as the 48-hour deadline for kidnapped United Nations official John Solecki ends, the Taliban has released another hostage video, this time of a Canadian journalist, threatening to behead her by March 30.
As Beverly desperately calls out for help, she says, "The timeline is very short and my life is going to end. So I need someone to help me. My country or someone else have to make a move now, as my life is going to be over very shortly."
The irony is Beverly - now Khadija Adbul Qahaar - publisher of a pro-Islamic website 'Jihad Unspun', was in Pakistan to understand the concept of 'Jihad', when the Taliban kidnapped her in North Wazirstan.
"A previous video has been made and distributed to my Embassy, to the Pakistan government and to the various NGOs and groups, in order to try to meet the demnads that they're (the Taliban terror outfits) are making but....," trails off Beverly.
A cash strapped Taliban, at first demanded USD 2 millions, and have now settled for USD 3 hundred and 75 thousand ransom.
As the deadline for the execution of kidnapped United Nations man John Solecki lapsed, the timing of Beverly's hostage video release, served as grim reminder for foreigners in Pakistan that they have become the Taliban terror groups' most negotiable currecy in their holy war.

Would the idea of cutting her own head off to spite her nose be appropriate?
And may the rest of such deluded Canadians learn a lesson from it.
I agree with the general sentiment. However, it would be difficult to bring her back to Canada and try her for High Treason sans head.
Doing that would no doubt result in a mistrial or acquittal: she would have a prima facie defense of being non compos mentis, a fact that even the dimmest of Canadian jurors would have no problem believing, given the absence of her mentis.
Unfortunately the price for delivering her to face Justice Canadian Style is probably to pay the Taliban their "finder's fee" -- which they persist in calling a Ransom, but which we prefer to call a Bounty. Because Ransom is paid for Hostages, and Bounty is paid for Varmints, Pirates and Traitors.
Anyrate, Canada could always pay in counterfeit bills or Euros (they're about the same thing anyway) and the Taliban would probably never notice.

Looks like the young lady is due to graduate with Jihad honors.

That sounds like a confession of premeditated guilt. Any competent Crown Prosecutor ought to be able to convert that into a conviction for High Treason.
Under such compelling evidence of guilt and certainty of conviction, the Talian’s Bounty seems quite reasonable. She’s ugly enough to be memorable, and her execution should make a superb propaganda film...
...ooops, I forgot, we don’t hang Traitors in Canada anymore. Let me re-think that Bounty idea and I’ll get back to you later. Worst-case scenario, I’m sure the Taliban won’t mind taking care of her for us: after all, they’ve already offered to.

“Video: Taliban Threaten to Behead Pro-Taliban Canadian “Journalist””

As the owner and operator of the “Jihad Unspun” website, she wrote countless stories about how US and Canadian troops were the “real terrorists” and how the Taliban were simply anti-imperialist freedom fighters — the “resistance” as she liked to call them.
I actually knew Beverly was on her way to Pakistan as she and I crossed paths at some Islamist forums. She was at the forums looking for video and trying to hook up with “resistance fighters” who could help her and Phil Rees — who she claimed to be working with -— on their “documentary” about “Islamic resistance”. A “documentary” she claimed would show the “resistance” point of view.
So, if Beverly really was kidnapped by the Taliban and if she is about to be beheaded, how come nothing happened to Phil Rees?”
