Kids Are Being Taught That Carbon Kills Polar Bears
American Thinker ^ | March 21, 2009 | Marc Sheppard

California’s KQED has a story about elementary school children being taught that man-made “Mr. Carbon” is giving the Earth a global warming “fever” and killing “lovable” polar bears. Of course, the San Francisco-based PBS station thinks that’s just swell. It’s not – it’s outrageous.

Cool The Earth, the group behind this blatant indoctrination program, is the brainchild of two Marin County parents who say they were inspired by watching Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth. That’s probably all you need to know, but bear with me – it gets better.

According to their website, “Cool The Earth is a ready-to-run program that educates K-8 students and their families about global warming and inspires them to take simple actions to reduce their carbon emissions.” Here’s how they describe the program’s kick-off assembly:

The Cool the Earth program launches with an all-school assembly in which an original, age-appropriate play is performed by teachers, parents and students. Characters such as Koda the polar bear, Earth and Mother Nature act out scenarios about how human activities are contributing to raising levels of carbon dioxide and giving the earth a global warming “fever.” By the end of the play, all the kids are excited to get rid of the villain, Mr. Carbon, and save the lovable Koda. The tone of the play is positive and helps kids feel empowered to take action.

I can just imagine the boos and hisses when the evil caped Mr. Carbon creeps onto the stage and the applause and cheers when the cuddly and lovable Koda is saved from his villainous intent.

And speaking of dubious intentions, program co-founder Carleen Cullen makes no attempt to conceal hers:

“Cool the Earth plants the seeds of environmental change into the minds of the people who can have the biggest impact on the planet: children. If anyone can inspire their parents to make changes, it’s their children.”

Planting seeds into children’s minds? In other words -- brain washing.

And the site’s Climate 101 page, which incorrectly identifies carbon dioxide as “the most prevalent greenhouse gas,” reveals the fallacious weed they want those seeds to sprout:

An overwhelming body of scientific evidence paints a clear picture: climate change is happening; it is caused in large part by human activity and it will have many serious and potentially damaging effects in the decades ahead. Scientists have confirmed that the greenhouse gas emissions from cars, power plants and other manmade sources—rather than natural variations in climate—are a primary cause

It’s broken record time again, folks. As global temperatures continue to cool, alarmists are picking up both the tempo and intensity of their disinformation campaign. And public schools are a high value target. Please monitor the “science” being fed to your kids in school. And be prepared to remove any green mush that finds itself between their ears. Sit your kids down to watch and discuss the fabulous video AT’s Gregory Young features today.

And should your 7-year-old return home from school one day upset that your “carbon footprint” is killing poor Koda the polar bear, explain to the little tyke that polar bear populations have more than doubled since 1960. That warming is over, that it wasn’t caused by anything people did and never threatened polar bears. And that what he or she saw in class wasn’t real, but only make-believe.

Just like manmade global warming itself.

We can show all the graphs we wish showing the truth, we can chart true temperatures and data on snowfalls, we can present all the real-life causes and effects that prove the fraud of “global warming” but it amounts to nothing at all.

It DOESN’T matter, the liars and propagandists are in control and ignorance reigns in academia and for a purpose: to subjugate the people into slaves for the state, to enforce abortion and the murder of certain “undesireable” segments of our population.

Wake up dimwits (not you IBJensen, we’re shoutin’ at the brain-dead), common-sense and reason have nothing to do with what’s happening.

One day, they will learn that polar bears are killing the penguins of Antarctica because of some environmentalist wackos that thought it was a good idea to relocate Arctic polar bears to the south pole. And there will still be polar bears in the Arctic.

I was terrified in elementary school when we took a whole week to discuss the coming ice age. It was a good thing that both my parents were spirit-filled Christians with brains that could explain away the fear.

All these global warming thugs can do is sell fear. And if you take a moment and consider how insignificant man is on a global level, at the very least, common sense should tell you there is nothing we can do to influence global climate.

In fact, man is probably not even in the top 10 influencers of climate, well behind the sun, the earth core, water vapor, gravity, volcanoes, solar radiation, ocean currents etc etc.

I think I saw this factoid that really was a nail in the coffin for me, if you took every human being and crammed them into one place on earth, they would take up less than 1% of the earth’s total volume. Remember, that two thirds of the earth is ocean and only a small percentage of land is inhabited with any appreciable density. Yet we are capable of “destroying the earth” or “changing the climate?” It makes no sense at all if you have half a brain.

Hey...look at it this way. We raise our children to see the truth and install a seriously powerful BS detector in them.
Our children will one day be leading these little Gorons.

Public school in Texas through high school. And then private, Methodist universities.

Having discussions about moving to Mexico because of advancing glaciers and dropping temperatures was a little bit too much for this 10(?) year old. The good news was that there wasn’t the agenda of directly blaming man - at least I don’t recall that. The way these “educators” place blame on mankind for “global warming” is insideous. Who heaps that kind of guilt on a child?

The government school monopoly needs to be broken before they destroy more generations with their propaganda.

My thought, put polar bears in a petting zoo and this will end quick.

Religion should not be taught in the public schools.

Has anyone noticed the scads of commercials whose main pitch is not how well their product works but how well they care about the environment? I was watching the NCAA tournament yesterday, and it seemed like nearly every ad emphasized how much they care about the environment.

I’m offended by the lack of polar bears here in Georgia. Obviously we have driven them out of their habitat with our 95-degree humidity in Summer. Penguins are pretty scarce here too. Also you can forget about ice fishing. We need to tax the heck out of corporations so the rest of them will leave the USA. Then we’ll all feel so much less guilty. And the Democrats will have so much more money to give to future Democratic voters. Save us, Algore!

Yes I've noticed these and find them disgusting.

"Ooh. Is that your finger or are you glad to see me?"

Lissen up, I am tired of all this attention paid to Polar Bears. What about all the Penguins hacking their lungs out with dangerous Carbon Dioxide, which as you know contains the dangerous poison, Carbon?

Penguins, like our illustrious marxist leader, need to refrain from smoking.

(I believe penguins prefer Kools.)
