Now Obama has insulted French President Sarkozy!

Help me out here folks Could he really be this stupid????

Now Obama has insulted French President Sarkozy!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh no! Obama sent a letter to Chirac, saying he looks forward to working with him the next four years. Le Figaro, French newspaper is horrified at the faux pas. Doesn't Obama ever consult his staff before acting? Sarkozy is the President there! It's like Sarko writing to George Bush and saying he looks forward to working with him. Chirac is the FORMER president.

Here is a translation of the letter in Le Figaro:

Vendredi 20 mars 2009 OBAMA PREFERS CHIRAC !

Barack Obama does not seem to know that in May 2007, French voters elected Nicolas Sarkozy to the French presidency, to succeed Jacques Chirac who had been president for twelve years.

Yesterday, we told you Sarkozy is irritated because Mister O. refuses to tell him if he will accept to meet him personally in the next few months.

Strangely, we have just learnt this surprising piece of news :

Barack Obama wrote a letter to Jacques Chirac to tell him about his desire to "work with him" for the next four years ! In a letter described by Chirac as "very nice," Obama wrote, "I am certain that we will be able to work together, in the coming four years, in a spirit of peace and friendship to build a safer world." The use of the word "peace" was taken to be an indirect reference to Chirac's stance against the US intervention in Iraq, which Obama had also opposed.

This revelation was made by the online edition of the daily Le Figaro on Thursday.

Vendredi 20 mars 2009 OBAMA PREFERS CHIRAC !

So, if I understand well, Mister O., who has already despised Gordon Brown, behaving with him as if he did not know he is Prime Minister of Britain, does not even know the name of the French president.

I wonder if someone had told him, when he came to France last summer, that the man he met was NOT Jacques Chirac !

In any case, for Sarko, the blow must be terrible : he has tried to persuade Obama to invite him in Washington for months, and now he learns that his predecessor might soon be Obama's guest at the White House before him ! http://europumas.over-blog.com/article-29271371.html edited to add the original french article: http://www.lefigaro.fr/actualites/20...es-chirac-.php

I think he is purposely ignoring Sarkozy, who is conservative by French standards, and addressing Chirac because he and Bambi shared the same opinions on Iraq.

livius is right. It makes perfect sense. Think about it

>>We Europeans let you down in the aftermath of 9/11, yes, but remember many Europeans think so too.

Also please remember we contribute to the WOT too, even if we Europeans, admittedly, still aren’t doing our fair share of the job.

Changes will come.

Europe won’t let America down forever.<<

Many European governments let us down.
Many European people did not.

Thank you for your support. We need all we can get!

FYI, the French have 3,000 or more troops in Afghanistan, and are sending more. Earlier this year, 12 French soldiers were killed by the terrorists, and many were wounded.

Sarko is one of the few European leaders to even acknowledge there is a GWOT. With Tony Blair gone, and the TOTUS in charge, Sarko will be, with Bibi Netanyahu, the leader of the Free World.

No, I don’t think they’ve made the mistake of confusing the 0bama administration for the dritte Reich.

UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE!

So, I’ve SEEN the text of the letter now... And I STILL can’t believe it! They HAVE to be trying to insult other nations — PLEASE tell me they are not THIS incompetent!

(Yes, I KNOW they are — I just WISH they were not — we’re doomed).

This reeks of Racism.

Obama has a dislike for White Europeans who aren't Socialist enough for him.

He has dissed British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Now it's "relatively conservative" Sarkozy.

I guess only the Russians are "the right kind of White people" for Obama.

Then again, Hillary wanted to push a button and blow up our relations with them too.

And the Europeans actually supported this guy!

but there is no way he writes his own letters. Surely the rest of the people in the administration know.

That may be the problem. His admin is full of Clinton people. The mistake could have been a memory lapse or sheer stupidity. But, if Obama doesn't read things before he signs the fault is ultimately his 'cuz as he says "the buck stops here", lol.

Oh yeah, I remember that! While I wish no one physical harm, I must say that headline about the poodle is one of the funniest I’ve ever seen:

“Former French President Chirac hospitalised after mauling by his clinically depressed poodle”

I couldn’t make up something that funny if I tried.

>>The two presidents will be in London on April 2 at the summit of the G-20<<

Sarko needs to have a closed-door, wall-to-wall talk-listen session with the pretender.

Yes, it is a;l; true. Yes, the TOTUS and his puppet Obasma have dissed the President of France.

TRANSLATION OF le FIGARO ARTICLE BELOW:

*** FRENCH POLITICS AND CULTURE PING LIST *** FREEPMAIL ME IF YOU WANT TO JOIN ***

First Gordon Brown, now Nicolas Sarkozy. Which ally will Dear Leader insult next?

Barack Obama wrote to Jacques Chirac

Barack Obama wrote a letter to Jacques Chirac to express his desire to “work” together during the four years of his mandate, it was learned Friday from the family of former President Chirac, confirming information published by “Le Figaro” .

“I am confident that we can over the next four years working together in a spirit of peace and friendship to build a safer world,” writes the American president to the former French president in the letter addressed via the U.S. Embassy in Paris, in response to the message of congratulations from Jacques Chirac on his election.

The entourage of Jacques Chirac assured that we should not see this implied a tribute to the action of the former French president against the war in Iraq, but an allusion to his current fight with the head of his foundation the dialogue of cultures.

Jacques Chirac may not travel in the United States as part of its foundation, no date is fixed, according to his entourage.

This attention to Barack Obama for Jacques Chirac could irritate the President of France, Nicolas Sarkozy, who despite his best efforts has not yet met the new tenant of the White House since taking office.

The two presidents will be in London on April 2 at the summit of the G-20 on the reform of capitalism, then 3 and 4 April at the NATO summit in Strasbourg and Kehl.

Confidentiel : Barack Obama

a écrit à Jacques Chirac

I saw it and that letter is probably taken out of context. It was written to Chirac and his foundation... and no mention when that letter was written.
