ABC Radio Reporter Found Dead in Brooklyn
By ERIC KONIGSBERG and COLIN MOYNIHAN March 22, 2009
George Weber, a reporter whose voice had been a steady presence on ABC radio for more than a dozen years, was found dead in his brownstone apartment in Brooklyn on Sunday, the police said.
The death has been ruled a homicide. The police said they found Mr. Webers body about 9 a.m. on Sunday. He had been stabbed, but no weapon was found, the police said.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, said Ellen Borakove, a spokeswoman for the New York City medical examiners office.
Mr. Weber, 47, had worked as a newscaster for a number of shows on WABC-AM, including the popular talk-radio program hosted by Curtis Sliwa. In February 2008, after more than 12 years at WABC, Mr. Weber was laid off in a cost-cutting move, according to his Web site, www.georgeweber.net.
Since that time, he had been employed by ABC News Radio, the national network, as a freelance anchor.

ABC News Radio Anchorman Found Dead
Police responded to a missing person call at 9 a.m. Sunday and found Weber, 50, in his apartment with a wound to his neck, according to a police report. Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and pronounced him dead.
An investigation into Weber's death is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
Was he 47 or 50, like I care, I moved.
The only radio station in Doylestown was WBUX and had a near zero audience. 5K watts, failed and went off the air. Baxk up last I checked which is not lately.
The antennae are not even on the top of a hill, they are down the slope from the peak. That’s a recipe for success.
I’d take a look at what kind-of reporting he has been doing and then what type of extracurricular activities he was involved in.
A wound to his neck? Ok, I’ll ask. Has he been insulting Islam?
He had a very good sense of humor, a pleasure to listen to. Nice voice, I had the impression that he was a conservative. He seems to have been gay.
That is a link to his blog.
I found an interesting entry regarding the Fairness Doctrine:
“Now, back to Senator Stabenow. Why has she emerged as the ringmaster for this anti-free speech circus? Stabenow is married to Tom Athans, co-founder and former CEO of the far-left leaning Democracy Radio. Three years after founding the network and putting the liberal voices of Ed Schultz and Stephanie Miller on the air, Athans shuttered Democracy Radio and joined Air America and it’s fledgling operation. Athans started Democracy Radio in hopes to lobbying radio stations to air more liberal voices, but obviously when that didn’t take off, he turned to his Senator-wife. He’s probably thinking, if radio stations won’t take my liberal shows, then I’ll get my wife to draft new legislation forcing them to air the programs. Scary, huh? “
Scary...but also very, very plausible. After all, Athans might legitimately expect his wife to do for him what Ms. Pelosi and Ms. Feinstein have done for their husbands via the legislative process.
This administration and Congress is so corrupt that any crooked scheme is plausible.
Actually,Athans had a hooker do something that his
butt-ugly wife wouldn’t do for him.
(I can’t blame him.)
Very sad news. I like George's great voice & "presence. I kinda took him for granted for all the years I used to listen to him, but now that he's gone, I *will* miss him.
Rest in Peace, *Good* News Guy, George Weber
a brownshirt? It was national force O’s agenda down people’s throats day. Just sayin. Very sad and sorry for the family.

RASH OF BREAK-INS PLAGUE CARROLL GARDENS
One of the things I love most about reading the local Brooklyn newspapers is the police blog. I’m always curious about who’s been burglarized, mugged or killed in my neighborhood. But, it gets a little eerie when the crime is happening within a few blocks of your home, or worst yet, right on it. Luckily, no bodies have shown up on my doorstep recently. But, take a look at the rash of burglaries reported in this week’s Brooklyn Paper.
That’s four incidents in just a week within blocks of where I live. Despite the disturbing frequency, I’m comforted in knowing, these burglars probably won’t hit my place. Here’s why. They all have a common thread. That’s right, in each case, the victims were away from their homes for long periods of time, sometimes, days. Playing junior detective, I would surmise that these thieves have been watching area homes, picking homes where it appears the homeowner has no intention of returning anytime soon. In all cases, the intruders never marched through the front doors and it appears as if they didn’t enter apartments through publicly exposed entries.
For those of you living in the neighborhood, this is a reminder to be vigilant of the strangers lurking on our streets. It’s also a wake up call to always keep your doors and windows locked and closed at all times. I’d also suggest installing motion detectors that automatically trip bright lights at entry points to your home and make sure you have a deadbolt. If nothing else, you’ll get a break on homeowners or renters insurance.
I live in a very nice part of Houston. There is a small section in a local paper that deals with police activity in this area. I am always surprised at how few crimes are committed in this part of town. There will be a couple of traffic stops where people are arrested for minor offenses, a robbery of a parked car and the break in of a residence. Rarely is there anything more than that. Other parts of this huge city are not so fortunate.
I would say so.....
Condolences to George’s Parents, Sister and extended family and friends. I was devastasted to hear about this as I felt as if I knew him from listening to him on WABC for many years. I will always remember his 9/11 report. He literally ran down to the site and reported live on air.
God Bless George and his family.
I haven't checked recently but it use to be in the archives of wabcradio.com
I believe it is on George’s blog or his website.
