O, 'YOU PUNCH DRUNK?'
NY Post ^ | March 23, 2009 | Daphne Retter and Andy Geller

President Obama yukked it up again when he discussed the economy on "60 Minutes" last night, prompting his interviewer to ask whether leading the nation during a recession has made him "punch drunk."

The president laughed he later called it "gallows humor" at several points, particularly when he talked about pumping more money into General Motors and Chrysler.

"I just want to say that the only thing less popular than putting money into banks is putting money into the auto industry," he said.

Interviewer Steve Kroft interjected, "You're sitting here. And you are laughing. You are laughing about some of these problems. Are people going to look at this and say, 'I mean, he's sitting there just making jokes about money'?"

"Are you punch drunk?" Kroft asked.

"No, no," the president replied. "There's got to be a little gallows humor to get you through the day. If you had said to us a year ago that the least of my problems would be Iraq which is still a pretty serious problem I don't think anybody would have believed it."

On Thursday night, Obama appeared on "The Tonight Show" and cracked jokes about his bowling, the pending first dog and his job.

He should be laughing. He was able to take advantage of an economic crisis caused by his own party to promote a much more extreme version of the anti-market, pro-big government economic agenda that caused the crisis in the first place.

“Are you punch drunk?”

Translation: Are you stupid?

Kroft had better watch his six.

This guy is an evil, evil man. I watched the clip about “gallows humor” and he really was gleeful. Great that he is so happy the country is falling into his communist goals.

"It's Rahm, Mr President."

"He sez you were great on 60 Minutes. No matter what happens, keep laughing."

"The joke about Special Olympic bowling on Leno will endear you to working
class peons forced to payoff the deficits we are creating."

"Rahm sez keep remembering that his plan to make Democrats rich
and to blame the coming US bankruptcy on Republicans is a winner."

I have a question that is kinda OT, but it’s not worth posting a ‘Vanity’ for —

I’ve just heard that Obama has stated that the tax on ‘bonus recipients’ is unconstitutional....

If he then goes ahead and signs this into law *knowing that it’s unconstitutional*, would that rise to the level of ‘malfeasance in office’??

Jus’ askin’......

One of the things that allows me to sleep at nights is knowing I did not vote for this disaster.

Uncle Ike, Obama said in the 60 Minutes interview that he thought it was illegal.

Don't blame me, I voted for McCain.

It's amazing how many members of the MSM are turning on this guy, or at least showing signs they won't be his lapdog forever.

He’s just about brain dead- liberalism is a mental disorder and he has an acute case of it.

” he thought it was illegal. “

Without enough caffiene in my system to explore the semantic difference between ‘illegal’ and ‘unconstitutional’ in this context —

I guess my question is whether signing a patently unconstitutional (by his own implicit, if not explicit, admission) bill into law puts Obama in violation of his (twice-taken) oath to “preserve, protect, and defend the *Constitution*” - and are there any sanctions available to us great unwashed should this come to pass??

Historians and constitutional scholars feel free to chime in here.... ;~)

I just heard the best description of the Obama Administration from a panel on Fox & FRiends.

Obama is fighting a WAR AGAINST PROSPERITY.

Uncle it may be a lack of caffiene, but not on your part.

I just read your post again and your post was quite clear, my head wasn't.

What do you expect from a radical like Zer0? It’s very possible that he’s not constitutional himself.

Very true. It is a War Against Prosperity.

last night a Freeper posted this link to a lecture given at the Heritage Foundation, which I just finished listening to. I sent it to those on my email list.

http://www.popmodal.com/video/2127/Evan-Sayet—Hating-Whats-Right-How-the-Modern-Liberal-Winds-Up-on-the-Wrong-Side-of-Every-Issue

The basic premise is that since liberals are raised that all discrimination is wrong, they become Indiscriminate, and therefore treat everything the same, and do not recognize that some things are better than other things.

To admit something is better or more successful is wrong to liberals, who want to treat all cultures as equal, even when they are not. And therefore they resent that which is successful, and actually discriminate against success, and rationalize failure as the failed being oppressed by the successful. Thus, it is the fault of successful people and cultures that other people and cultures fail.

Obama was supposed to be a token President, not one to face real perils as in lets plant a veggie garden and, hey, I’m black! And let’s have some parties, too. Every Wednesday night. We had enough of this with the Clintons. Hey, Bammy you came too late to interest most of us; And you 52% that voted for this imbacil.........Shame on you

You've got it!

That's why I've referred to the Democrats as "the party of entropy."
