House Passes Mandatory National Service Bill The House passed a bill yesterday which includes disturbing language indicating young people will be forced to undertake mandatory national service programs as fears about President Barack Obama’s promised “civilian national security force” intensify.

The Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act, known as the GIVE Act, was passed yesterday by a 321-105 margin and now goes to the Senate.

Under section 6104 of the bill, entitled “Duties,” in subsection B6, the legislation states that a commission will be set up to investigate, “Whether a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people could be developed, and how such a requirement could be implemented in a manner that would strengthen the social fabric of the Nation and overcome civic challenges by bringing together people from diverse economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.”

Section 120 of the bill also discusses the “Youth Engagement Zone Program” and states that “service learning” will be “a mandatory part of the curriculum in all of the secondary schools served by the local educational agency”.

“The legislation, slated to cost $6 billion over five years, would create 175,000 “new service opportunities” under AmeriCorps, bringing the number of participants in the national volunteer program to 250,000. It would also create additional “corps” to expand the reach of volunteerism into new sectors, including a Clean Energy Corps, Education Corps, Healthy Futures Corps and Veterans Service Corps, and it expands the National Civilian Community Corps to focus on additional areas like disaster relief and energy conservation,” reports Fox News.

The Senate is also considering a similar piece of legislation known as the “Serve America Act”, which also includes language about “Youth Engagement Zones”.

And I thought Clinton’s paid volunteerism was a joke. Now we have Obama insisting that mandatory service qualifies as “volunteer” work. This is the same kind of rationale that allows totalitarian governments the chutzpah to call themselves The “Democratic Republic of...” when in fact there is nothing Democratic about them.

The left wing communist party is the same in all countries that practice marxism, which at its core is men worhiping mankind and science.
The man Hitler used the foolish of Germany to elect him much as the dem coms are fooled by false promises.
Hitler also indoctrinated children in the government schools form some 10 years and brainwashed them and used community activism as one means to push his socialist marxist nazi agenda. The children wore brown shirts, hense brown shirt nazis.
America’s democrat party is doing exactly the same thing he did before they did a hostile takeover of government after the man Hitler was elected.
Those who do not know history are condemened to repeat it.
And so it is today! And America’s little brainwashed government school indoctrinated neo nazis are following the same exact course.
Devilish plan being perpetuated on the fools who profess to be wise.
The left are the worst of fools and full of pride and arrogance. Their leaders know they are blind sheep.

Are you suprised? It took the communist democrats some 100 years to get to this point and the blind sheep people followed hard after them by allowing communist teachers to brainwash their children.
Americans do not like to resist evil right under their noses.

One of the reasons they voted for it is because it has language like “investigate”, “explore”. Say my congresscritter over the weekend. He is generally a good guy. Ripped a strip off of him on this one. He was shocked that I thought it lead to mandatory service.

I have given up on my Rep. Adam Putnam.

Hard to believe he was once referred to as a "rising star" in the Republican Party.

Must have been a bunch of RINO's who said that about him.

Well, at least he has seen the writing on the wall and is leaving his seat to run for Agriculture Dept. head in Florida.

Then again, with the way he has been voting lately, he'll probably outlaw citrus groves.

Swear to God this Asshat has never even read any part of the Constitution.

after them by allowing communist teachers to brainwash their children.

Public schools have become a free babysitting service. Infant care, pre-pre-school, pre-school, before school programs, after school programs, week end programs and summer programs. They have "free" doctors, dentists, counselors, meals, and comfort. Parents are no longer necessary.
Parents allowed this to happen, because raising children became too much work after "woman's liberation." Mom got removed from the home. The children then belonged to the state.

HR1388 is up in the Senate at 11 am TODAY, after yesterday’s cloture vote, and is sure to be fast tracked just like in the House. The Senate has the related SR277 coming up, too. Republicrats are buying into this in hordes, even normally conservative ones. Is it out of economic fear? Or...what?

Yesterday in our Senate:

Measures Considered:

Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act—Agreement: Senate resumed consideration of the motion to proceed to consideration of H.R. 1388, to reauthorize and reform the national service laws.

During consideration of this measure today, Senate also took the following action:
By 74 yeas to 14 nays (Vote No. 108), three-fifths of those Senators duly chosen and sworn, having voted in the affirmative, Senate agreed to the motion to close further debate on the motion to proceed to consideration of the bill.

A unanimous-consent agreement was reached providing for further consideration of the motion to proceed to consideration of the bill at approximately 11 a.m., on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, and that the post-cloture time continue to run during any period of morning business, recess, or adjournment of the Senate; provided further, that the remaining provisions of the previous order continue to be in effect.

The Constitution stands in the way of totalitarianism.

That’s why these fascists have tried to redefine it to be “living”, ie, subject to the whims of black robed oligarchs.

Hell Bill, there are doing so many things that are against the Constitution now. Most of the pepole don’t care as long as thy get their “freebies” such as free health care and free abortions. The courts don’t care. And last but not least, the pepole are all for it as long as it makes thm feel “secure”.

My favorite, and the reason I stopped flying is the airport searches. This is despite what the courts have ruled is un CConstitutional because the Constitution reads that a citizrn is considered innocentof committing a crime until convicted of a crime. But each time you purchase a ticket to fly from from point A to point B, you are considered to be a criminal by the authorties.
