Also, Montana has a bill in committee to allow:

I have a feeling they are on Constitutional thin ice with this one piece... other than that, looks good and Constitutional.
Readable version:
the state of Montana and political subdivisions to conduct various financial transactions in gold, gold and silver coin, electronic gold currency, or legal tender of the united states; allowing certain persons conducting various financial transactions with the state or political subdivisions to conduct the transactions in gold, gold and silver coin, electronic gold currency, or legal tender of the united states; requiring that certain financial transactions between the state and other persons involving certain taxes, fees, and charges on cigarettes and tobacco products be conducted in electronic gold currency; requiring the department of administration to adopt rules for the administration of payment by and receipt by the state and political subdivisions in gold, gold and silver coin, or electronic gold currency; providing an appropriation; amending Sections 7-6-201, 7-6-2111, 7-6-2603, 7-6-4302, 17-1-111, 17-8-301, 17-8-304, and 30-2-511, mca; and providing an effective date and applicability dates.
As long as the USD says “This Note is Legal Tender for All Debts, Public and Private” it cannot be refused by any entity in the USA — most of all a State.
Maybe I missed it, I didn’t see refusal of USD, only a Statewide alternative currency.
They should have thought of all this in the early 1900s when all this crap started.
It’s not on coins though ... only on paper money which in reality is nothing but a fancy check printed by the fed’s ....
The “Golden Rule”! Cool!
States cannot establish monetary policy.
They're not refusing dollars, only creating a system where gold can be used for payment.
It's a start, but is in fact is more limited than many of us would like to see.
“...OR LEGAL TENDER OF THE UNITED STATES...”
States can’t “coin money (refers to setting value) or emit bills of credit” however, there is an exception in Article 1, Section 10- “make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts”.
The way I read this, they can legally use Gold or Silver to pay debts within the State, however, they can’t set the value of said gold/silver (coining) nor can they issue any bills of credit (fiat or debt currency)
Like I said, a State can't establish monetary policy.
Looks like they're covering all bases. Interesting.
It is interesting how states are slowly looking at their own rights ...
>>make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts.
Maybe you have something there — sort of a Constitutional Atavism?
This Note is Legal Tender for All Debts, Public and Private-and is redemable in lawful money at the United States Tresury or any federal reserve bank.
Hows that?
Section 10. No state shall enter into any treaty, alliance, or confederation; grant letters of marque and reprisal; coin money; emit bills of credit; make anything but gold and silver coin a tender in payment of debts;
No but if the US Government has issued illegal money then they can.
Section 10. No state shall enter into any treaty, alliance, or confederation; grant letters of marque and reprisal; coin money; emit bills of credit; make anything but gold and silver coin a tender in payment of debts; pass any bill of attainder, ex post facto law, or law impairing the obligation of contracts, or grant any title of nobility
