Is this the change you really voted for? President Obama has only been in office for two months. Now we have HR 1388. The Bill was sponsored by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) with 37 others. The Bill was introduced to the floor of the House of Representatives where both Republicans and Democrats voted 321-105 in favor. Next it goes to the Senate for a vote and then on to President Obama.
This bills title is called Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education (GIVE). It forms what some are calling Obamas Youth Brigade. Obamas plan is require anyone receiving school loans and others to serve at least three months as part of the brigade. His goal is one million youth! This has serious Nazi Germany overtones to it.

What brought that on?
If this crap sees the light of day, you will probably get one in your back.
Unsere Fahne flattert uns voran
(Our banner flutters before us)
Unsere Fahne ist die neue Zeit
(Our banner represents the new era)
Und die Fahne führt uns in die Ewigkeit!
(And our banner leads us to eternity!)
Ja, die Fahne ist mehr als der Tod
(Yes, our banner means more to us than death)
Well WHY The Hell NOT
6 billion dollars? And why uniforms. That money would pay for most of the students wanting to attend college. This is something more - it’s another bureaucracy which will become top heavy and like all the others - never go away. I can see it in the future as being used for more nefarious purposes by the - poor and downtrodden. Chevez has them and their uniforms are red.
They only settled on “G.I.V.E” as a name when the awkward ramifications of the previous name
was pointed out....
What happened to the First Amendment? “Congress shall MAKE NO LAW respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...”
The wording does not say you can’t attend a church service, period.
It does appear though, that anyone but a secularist is not to be tolerated.
It is certainly not friendly towards anyone that is religious. Definitely, a secularist wrote this.
I would have difficulty allowing my children to be indoctrinated/brainwashed by this goofy organization. I’d allow them to picket the front of the camp though.
Question: How would you define sin?
Obama: Anything that goes against my values.
Hey! This is 2009 null, it’s “N@C’s”
Some so-called conservatives voted for this. Rooney of Florida and McCotter of Michigan. Losers.
Actually, yes, you little 8 year old grandchildren DO have to participate. The program has two sections. One for Primary and Elementary age children, one for middle, highschool and college.
So poo poo it all you want. But your children are no less exempt than any of ours are.
So that means no volunteering at a church homeless shelter? Or a church sponsored nursing home?
It looks like it, depending on how you read that sentence. How this does not violate the First Amendment is hard to fathom.
It’s not logical???
Why? Why wouldn’t it be logical? Because it sounds EXTREME? Because it sounds OUTRAGEOUS?
Guess what, how would you have felt if someone told you 2 months ago that there would be a group of people paying 90% tax? Or that the government is talking about seizing control of private business?
You would have shot that out as ‘it’s just not logical’ then, right?
Nothing surprises me with this adminstration.
Wait, I missed the part about the uniforms? There are uniforms?
First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.
Pastor Martin Niemöller
Community and individuality are not opposites. People cannot survive on their own. When the odds are stacked against you, you must rally with the oppressed and hated.
When a growing oppressive regime is taking hold, you must act, otherwise you will soon face your enemy alone and hopeless.
Strength of community is a strength as much as individualism, as long you are willing to face weaknesses in your own community. Ignoring slacking values will mean that you will be rallied against by those you oppress.
Niemöller affirms we must rally against unhealthy organized regimes. We must also stay vigilant with those that appear to be good natured, as all organisation attracts corruption. Niemöller also warns us that if it is you who are corrupt, then you will face a stronger combined force of foe!
Wow I’m screwed. My scholarship funding was pulled due to lack of funds and I had to take out a loan to finish my “useless” degree. I won’t go quietly....
“...Guess what, how would you have felt if someone told you 2 months ago that there would be a group of people paying 90% tax? Or that the government is talking about seizing control of private business?”...
It would not have surprised me in the least.
Before obama and the Democrat Party is through every pension plan including Social Security will be bankrupt. The dollar will be destroyed. The economic system of the United States will be destroyed. This won’t happen over night but it is happening as I type this.
the brownshirt training act.... so they can be prepared to join the Civilian Intimidation Army
much of the money will go to leftwing activist groups of course... ACORN
Not sure I get your hmmmmmm, is that a good thing or a bad thing?
The wording is taken from the Americorps rules, but with a more vague and therefore sinister meaning:
Can an AmeriCorps member engage in political or religious activities in his or her official capacity as an AmeriCorps member?
There are certain activities including lobbying, political, religious or advocacy activities that AmeriCorps Members and staff may NOT perform in the course of their duties while charging time to the AmeriCorps program, or at the request of program staff. Furthermore, members and staff may not engage in any conduct in a manner that would associate the National Service Program or the Corporation with the prohibited activities. Programs must become familiar with the specific prohibitions in the Corporation’s formal regulations (45 C.F.R. B2520.30) and the grant provisions. The list of prohibited activities* includes:
Participating in efforts to influence legislation, including lobbying for your program.
Organizing a letter-writing campaign to Congress.
Engaging in partisan political activities, or other activities designed to influence the outcome of an election to any public office.
Participating in, or endorsing, events or activities that are likely to include advocacy for or against political parties, political platforms, political candidates, proposed legislation, or elected officials.
Printing politically charged articles in a Corporation-funded newsletter or list serve.
Taking part in political demonstrations or rallies.
Engaging in any efforts to influence legislation, including state or local ballot initiatives.
Voter registration drives.
Organizing or participating in protests, petitions, boycotts, or strikes.
Assisting or deterring union organizing.
Impairing existing contracts or collective bargaining agreements
Religious activities, including engaging in religious instruction; conducting worship services; providing instruction as part of a Program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship; constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship; maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship; or engaging in any form of religious proselytization.
Activities that pose a significant safety risk to participants.
Assignments that displace employees.
Placement of members into internships with for-profit business as part of the education and training component of the program.
Providing assistance to a business organized for profit.
Raising funds for an A*Corps stipend.
Raising funds for an organization’s operating expenses or endowment.
Writing grant applications for AmeriCorps funding or for any other funding provided by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
Writing grant applications for funding provided by any other federal agencies.
Administrative work, unless it benefits the member’s approved direct service activities.
*However, AmeriCorps members, like private citizens, may participate in lobbying, political, or advocacy activities on their own time, at their own expense, and at their own initiative. Members may not wear AmeriCorps service gear in such instances.
The above came from this link:
“There is even a provision in the bill for uniforms.”
This amounts to a cool $6 billion to groups like La Raza and Acorn to pay and militarize their minions. We will live to regret it if we take this lying down.
It looks to me at a very brief glance as prohibiting the volunteers from conducting anything resembling a religious service. That would be a good thing (in a basically bad bill).
It’s in the Obama Youth Catalog on page 6 — right next to the Obama Youth Tech 9 and just above the Obama Youth Machete.
This, then, condemns their activities as secularist proselytizers.
(I’m not sure how much good this is gonna do since while proofreading I noticed your tagline... but just in case)
It would be a good idea to read the legislation before you make that judgement. The bill is aimed toward mandatory involvement by schoolchildren in public school and kids in college. It was listed as mandatory on Obama’s original whitehouse page then sanitized once word got around but the bill is still aimed in that direction.
The attached amendment says what it says. If it is truly “mandatory volunteerism” (an oxymoron) then this is close to Nazi Germany. Take a look at the news...
“That link proves nothing. I want to read a paragraph or a page just prior to the line that reads:”
“Youre an idiot.”
“What brought that on?”
Glad you asked that... I was wondering the same thing.
I think people need to read part 8 E.
Then think about it for a sec.
Read part 8 E
Written in reference to “`(8) Providing a direct benefit to”
Not the religion portion. I get what you’re saying but it’s also obviously an amendment to the amendment... clearly an afterthought.
The original intent was displayed on the first Whitehouse page then cleaned up. Anything that is tried by the Administration and is met with resistance will be backed off until it’s barely acceptable. That’s incrementalism at it’s worst... and it seems to be working.
“Id like to see obama recruit some Muslims with this”
Muslims will be exempt for any service at all, wait and see.
“Muslims will be exempt for any service at all, wait and see.”
Religious exemption. It’s hard to follow the rules listed in the bill when you have to lay down a mat and pray towards Mecca several times a day.
This is nuts!
Unfortunately it’s not surprising. The government is not loyal to the constitution.
worth another bttt
