STRASBOURG, France (AP) --
The president of the European Union slammed President Barack Obama's plans to have the U.S. spend its way out of recession as "a road to hell," underscoring European differences with Washington ahead of a crucial summit next week on fixing the world economy.
Other European politicians kept their distance from the blunt remarks by Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek, with some reproaching the Czech leader for his strong language and others reaffirming their good diplomatic ties with the U.S.
Topolanek, whose country currently holds the rotating EU presidency, told the European Parliament on Wednesday that Obama's massive stimulus package and banking bailout "will undermine the liquidity of the global financial market."

Why are these Czech guys so awesome and our politicians just don’t get it? I feel like Monica Conyers must have felt when that 11 year old told her it was wrong to call people names.
I guess I haven't been giving Obie enough credit. I thought he was only set on destroying America.

Actually, FWIW the Czech Republic (along w/most ex-Communist Eastern Bloc nations) is rather economically conservative if I remember right...
Yes, they recognize it as a train wreck but it is like the couch potato brother-in-law horrified that his sister’s husband, the household breadwinner, has decided to head for the couch himself. Can’t have that. It is completely unsustainable as someone has to do the grunt work to pay the bills.
The Czechs have seen “up close and personal” the disaster which is State Socialism, and they know whereof they speak. At present, the United States is headed down a dangerous and painful road on a course which will be very difficult to arrest or reform. The current administration is putting many future generations of America’s kids up to their necks in hock in order both to stroke their Utopianist fantasy and to purchase the votes of those who are eager to drink the Kool Aid of State Socialism and the illusions it creates.
He didn't close with “God bless America.”
And he spoke about “investments” when talking about green energy, education, social services etc.
On the other hand he talked about defense “procurement” that needed to be changed.
I wonder what this all means means? Is this the new change and hope he's talking about?
The Czechs are emphatically NOT socialists - they have escaped socialism, and they know dang well what that “road to Hell” looks like.
It tells you that Obama is a an idiot when socialists see his plan as a boondoggle.
Obama does not care about history, advice (unless it agrees with his plans), or wise words from other leaders. He has put America in a spin...like a dog chasing and biting its own tail. While he smirks and laughs and tells us we have to have a little "gallows humor" about all of it. Well, most folks aren't laughing. And, isn't it strange...we hear nothing from the RICH HOLLYWOOD SET, except Whoopie who complained that she even has to pay taxes and thinks that is not fair! These people who were so anxious for Obama to be elected, are going to feel the big pinch at tax time when made to share their wealth. Serves them right!
Obama is not an idiot. He, and the rest of his oligarchy, have been highly educated in the art of evil.
He is deliberately trying to destroy the economy and take over this country. There is not a doubt in my mind that a coup d’tat is in progress.
