Border Patrol battles influx of dangerous criminals
KOLD TV News ^ | march 24, 2009 | Som Lisaius

Border Patrol agents are arresting an increased number of dangerous criminals at the border, officials say.

"We're talking about major things. Homicides, sex offenders, big robberies, armed robberies--things to that degree," says agent Mike Scioli.

Scioli says more dangerous criminals are trying to enter the U.S. -- a disturbing yet growing trend along the southern border.

This past weekend, a group of 34 illegals were apprehended by agents near Ajo. Two of them were members of a notorious and ruthless gang known as MS-13. How did agents find out? Finger prints and tattoos were a dead-giveaway.

"These two individuals, not only did their criminal record prove they were gang members, but also their tattoo affiliations," Agent Scioli says. "They're all under 13 as the 13th letter in the English alphabet which links them to the Mexican Mafia, the largest gang running in the US right now."

Authorities say the gang has at least 850,000 members. Many of them have drug and human smuggling ties, great contacts to have when trying to enter the U.S. under the radar.

In response to this, local, state and federal officials have beefed up security significantly. Just last week, we got a look at what's essentially an X-ray machine on wheels, which can detect virtually anything that anybody's trying to hide or bring in illegally.

But these people aren't coming in through checkpoints and other ports of entry. Many of them are military trained, organized crime members. Last fiscal year, the Border Patrol apprehended at least 60 hardened gangsters in the Tucson Sector. So far this year, they've already arrested 25 and the number is only growing.

Says Agent Scioli, "It just proves again that these aren't people coming over for jobs, these aren't people trying to take care of their families back in Mexico, they're coming over to cause havoc." AddThis Social Bookmark Button

March 24, 2009 AN EDITORIAL from NAFBPO

Our Leaders Betray Us

The National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers is dedicated to the education of the American public and our elected representatives about issues surrounding the immigration policies of the United States. With one previous exception, we have refrained from editorializing on the subject. We have preferred to avoid opinion in favor of simply sharing with the public the knowledge we have gained in our cumulative millennia of experience.

However, we must speak out editorially now. We believe that the people of this nation are being betrayed on several fronts by our leaders’ attitudes toward immigration laws. The effects of the policies they propose are so predictably, demonstrably bad that there is no credible justification for them. Callous indifference to the effects on Americans is the only possible explanation.

Understand this: America, considered as a nation, a political entity, is a different thing from individual Americans. “America” is a group of people come together for the common defense and mutual support. It is one thing to say that immigration is good for America; it has been, and it always will be. It is quite another thing, though, to say that unlimited immigration (and that is what is being proposed) is good for individual Americans; it is not.

Every American is entitled to expect that his government will protect him from malign influences. Immigration laws are one of the tools to do that. The current administration and others before it have ignored their duty to protect with respect to enforcement of our immigration laws. Now, we see an administration that is not just ignoring that duty, but abandoning it entirely and inviting among us the very things that immigration laws ought to protect us from.

The reasons for immigration laws are rarely discussed in public and are poorly understood by the public, so let us state them here. Immigration laws exist to • Protect national security • Protect public safety • Protect public health • Protect American workers from foreign competition in their own land

The United States does not exist for the benefit of foreign nations or foreign people; that is not why our country was formed and it is not why our soldiers have bled and died. It is not the duty of Americans to bail out other lands that have not or will not help themselves by being a pressure relief for their social ills. Nevertheless, demands are being made by those nations (particularly Mexico) that we open our borders to their people. To the extent that we accept their people here, it is an act of grace that should be only allowed when we can do it without harming our own people. That is not what’s being proposed in Washington – proposals there amount to erasing our borders as meaningful elements of immigration control.

NAFBPO intends to publish a short series of editorials. Element by element of those listed above, they will address the injury done to the people of this country by President Bush and his predecessors, and discuss the damage that will inevitably flow from immigration proposals being touted by President Obama, Secretary of Homeland Security Napolitano, Speaker of the House Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Reid, and others who certainly know better. These people all swore an oath to protect this country and our Constitution. It is clear, though, that while one hand was on the Bible, the other hand was behind their back, fingers firmly crossed.

Kent Lundgren Chairman National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers

Schedule of Editorials – these will appear on our website, http://www.nafbpo.org, and our daily Foreign Media Report. March 30 – American jobs for American workers April 6 – Public safety and national security April 13 – Public health and social impact

El Universal (Mexico City) 3/23/09

The Mexican AG’s office (PGR) announced that it will offer reward money to those who provide relevant and useful information leading to the arrest of those members of organized crime who have warrants of arrest pending. Rewards up to 30 million pesos [about 2 million dollars US ] are offered for the arrests of those on the following list as well as others not listed: Heriberto Lazcano Lazcano, “El Lazca”; Jorge Eduardo Costilla Sanchez, “El Cos”; Ezequiel Cardenas Guillen, “Tony Tormenta”; Miguel Angel Trevino Morales, “L-40″; Joaquin Guzman Loera, “El Chapo”; Ismael Zambada Garcia, “El Mayo”; and Ignacio Coronel Villarreal, “Nacho Coronel.” The AG made clear that members of the organized crime groups are also eligible to receive the monetary rewards if they are willing to turn in their leaders or associates. He emphasized that his office is interested in information that is truthful, useful and timely for the capture of the bosses and their principal operators. “We’re not ruling out that the informants could be members of those same groups. What interests us is to have the information that permits us to capture the leaders of the principal organizations,” he explained. ——————–

El Financiero (Mexico City) 3/23/09

Mexico’s Secretary of Public Security, Genaro Garcia Luna, affirmed that in the past month, the federal police tripled their presence in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua state, and succeeded in lowering organized crime’s violent murders by more than 70%. Constitutional reforms of the past year have given enforcement “new tools” to combat crime. These include stronger authority for police investigations and arrests. ——————–

Cuarto Poder (Chiapas) 3/23/09

A citizen report led to the discovery of a suitcase containing 5.5 kilos of methamphetamine abandoned along a public walkway in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas state. No arrests have been made, but the investigation continues. ——————–

Gotta love the NAFBPO for taking this stance, but it’s a damned shame and tragic that it takes former and retired Border Patrol Officers to state the problem and offer the obvious solutions that the POTUS and congress should be doing.

Our retired border agents have a message for all of us from their editorial above.

Strange that what spurred them into “action” was the rumor of southbound guns...

Like none of the things mentioned in this article matter in the slightest.

All illegal immigrants are by definition criminals. So it's not surprising that in a tidal wave of criminals, some really dangerous characters will wash ashore. It's just common sense, but that common sense has eluded so many in both parties for a generation.

The Congress and the President are sociopathic blaming
Americans, who are in fact victims of the Congress
working with Mexican criminals and terrorists.

Your comments remind me of an article put out by the border patrol a few years ago.

WHAT IS AN ARMY? (The invasion of the USA)

[snip]The United States of America spent over forty years defending itself against a terrible foe. That foe was the Soviet Union.

The United States built 70,000 nuclear weapons of 65 different types to protect ourselves from a Soviet army of two million men. That two million man army was composed of Christians (the govenment leaders were definately not Christian) who were responsible for fine art, fine music, the first man in space and rockets to the moon.

What makes up an army? An army is made of men between the age of 15 and 35.

What comes across our border by the millions each year? Men between the ages of 15 and 35.

Afghan drug lords are now teamed with Mexican drug cartels to flood our cities with heroin. In Mexico, this Muslim Connnection to the drug cartels has brought beheadings to the streets of border towns. Many Mexican cities are now surrounded by Mexican Army troops and tanks — all to quel the violence. The city of Tijuana had its entire 3,000 man police force disarmed and replaced with Mexican Federal Troops.

What we have below are two images. One is of an enemy we fought tooth and claw for seventy years nearly bankrupting our country. The other we today invite across our border with welfare, free medical care, and more. The centers of many American cities are now controlled by MS-13 and others of the most violent gangs in America’s entire history. These gangs want to kill police and federal agents to rise in reputation among their own kind. Our prisons are now filled with a violent criminal class never seen before anywhere on earth.

In all of the 70 years of the Soviet Union — including the years of the proxy war of Vietnam.— they killed fewer Americans in total than Mexican Illegal Aliens do inside this country in a single year.

In my area, close to Juarez, many illegals carry cellphones.
You could get some unusual info by making ESN/MIN capture boxes and placing them near known crossing points ;-)
Once the info is captured you can monitor the usage of the phone.

Well... In about 3 weeks I'm heading coast to coast on I-10. You know, down through El Paso with side trips to Big Bend and Huston, etc. I'm thinking about mounting a tripod with a machine gun on top of either my motorhome, or more likely my toy hauler trailer.

Everything in both units are fully self contained so I can "dry camp" most anywhere. Oh no! I forgot to order some night vision goggles!!! (Hay! It ain't funny!!!)
