Md. schools forbid illegals head count
Washington Times ^ | March 25, 2009 | Mark Chenoweth

The Maryland State Board of Education on Tuesday said Frederick County officials are prohibited by federal law from seeking a count of how many illegal immigrants are in the county school system...the state board said county officials haven't shown sufficient reason to look into the legal status of all of the students in the school system and that asking immigration status might discourage some parents from enrolling their children in schools....

"I think that in the end, the real winners are the children who immigrate to Frederick County from other countries eager to take advantage of public education," Marita Loose, a spokeswoman for Frederick County Public Schools said....Frederick County Commissioner Charles A. Jenkins, a Republican who sought the information from the school system, disagreed with the board's conclusions.... The U.S. Supreme Court said in 1982 that if schools offer public education to any student, they must offer it to all students...."What the Supreme Court says is that you cannot deny the public education. The same Supreme Court decision doesn't talk about [the Board of Education's] ability to provide information," Mr. Jenkins said.

Mr. Jenkins said that if the number of illegal immigrants in the school system were known, taxpayers would know more about where their money is going...Knowing how many people in the school system are illegal immigrants should also help the county diagnose its budget issues, he said....

Just shut up, don't ask questions, and fork over your taxes. We, your Overlords, don't have to tell you a damn thing, nor do we have to provide you with information about the number of illegal offspring you are paying to educate and feed, and how we are spending your money.

And the real losers are the suckers that have to pay for services for the children of lawbreakers. A lack of common sense has rarely been so seamlessly woven into the fabric of stereotypical official arrogance as well as here mastered by Marita Loose.

The golden goose can only take so much before his overtaxed hard fails due to over strain.

Hey, they are the experts about publik edumacation and your job is to show support by forking over all the money they need to pad their retirement...who knows, they could be on your parole board at your reeducation camp and have the final say if you are sufficiently cured.

Somebody should suggest that there may be some funding in it for them. They’ll get some numbers right quick.

Political correctness determines what information will be collected and publicized, and which is not to be known.

In the case of illegals in public schools, the politically correct crowd doesn’t want to know. They take a don’t ask/don’t tell approach to this question.

In the case of same-sex marriage and Proposition 8 in California, they sought the information and publicized who contributed to the politically incorrect side of that initiative to define marriage. In that case, the politically correct crowd decided that we should know who has the audacity to think that we should define marriage in our society.

What are illegals doing in public schools? In most school districts, a parent who enrolls their child in the wrong school district can be prosecuted.
For example, if your local public school is substandard and you use a relative’s address to qualify your child to attend the school in the neighboring district, you can be brought up on charges.
Is illegally living at an address, acceptable? but illegally claiming to live at an address, a crime you can go to jail for?

Lessee...

Keep the poor sots ignorant, non-English-speaking, and , especially, SPED. Worth about $20,000/head, right?

That's how 'Big Edu' will keep the bucks rolling in...and they can justify the pelf under the 'doing something nice [with other people's money]' rubric for ignorant, in-communicative, learning-disabled kiddies [until they're 35 years old in the 7th grade].

The consequences suck.....unless you want a majority dependent class of dependable Democrat/socialist voters....

I guess they'd call that a 'win/win!!

Why illegals are driving America "cuckoo":

Why do countries encourage great numbers of their poor to leave home and invade the United States? Nature provides a parallel that is instructive.

Some species of birds thrive not by carefully rearing their own young, but by pawning that task off on adults of other species. The European Cuckoo, whose distinctive call is immortalized in the sound of the "cuckoo clock," is the bird in which this habit has been most thoroughly studied. Female European Cuckoos lay their eggs only in the nests of other species of birds. A cuckoo egg usually closely mimics the eggs of the host (one of whose eggs is often removed by the cuckoo).

The host may recognize the intruding egg and abandon the nest, or it may incubate and hatch the cuckoo egg. Shortly after hatching, the young European Cuckoo, using a scoop-like depression on its back, instinctively shoves over the edge of the nest any solid object that it contacts. With the disappearance of their eggs and rightful young, the foster parents are free to devote all of their care to the young cuckoo. Frequently this is an awesome task, since the cuckoo chick often grows much larger than the host adults long before it can care for itself. One of the tragicomic scenes in nature is a pair of small foster parents working like Sisyphus to keep up with the voracious appetite of an outsized young cuckoo...sound familiar? Ever wonder why your kids get short shrift at school, while others get tutors, ESL classes and other benefits? Every wonder why your kids' school is constantly having fund-raisers despite the tax rate that increases every year? This is why. We are suckers; the parasites are winning, with the help and support of our Overlords.

The Equal Protection Clause doesn’t say anything about providing taxpayers an honest look at where their money is being spent, last time I looked. And as for Plyler, Peter Schey should never have been allowed into our country, let alone allowed to tell us how to run it. If he wanted to save the world, he should have started with his native land, South Africa.

Back in the mid-1990s, the huge, taxpayer-funded Parkland Hospital in Dallas very snottily refused to tell the Dallas Morning News how many illegals it was treating every year, and the cost. That was nobody’s business. Now they are not only spilling the beans about the burden, more than 70 percent of the women who give birth there are illegal, but they are begging the county, state and federal governments for funding to avoid bankruptcy.

It has absolutely nothing to do with being "politically correct." It has to do with keeping the taxpayers in the dark so they won't revolt and throw the bastards out of office when they find out how much the illegal aliens are costing. This is all about political power and control.

I am part of a local grassroots organization that lobbies on the Hill and state level. We have been pushing for more transparency in the costs of illegal immigration and the impact on our social welfare systems, schools, hospitals, law enforcement, etc. The ACLU, ethnic organizations like La Raza, the Catholic Church, and the Democrats have thrown up all kinds of roadblocks and obstacles using the smokescreen of privacy rights.

The Left knows that if the taxpayers learned the true costs, there would be hell to pay, especially now that state and local governments are cutting back on services and firing personnel.

All they have to prove is residency in the school district, and the school assignment area where they live. The rule you refer to is on the books, but the only time I have ever seen it applied was to black kids from DC whose parents desperately wanted them to go to school in Maryland. Virginia has regular skirmishes when it changes the boundaries of school assignment areas and people are unhappy when their kid has to ride the bus for 45 minutes instead of walk across the street to go to school. I haven’t heard anyone challenging their presence in the wrong school district.

Plyler v. Doe (1982) is a little-known Supreme Court decision that is transforming schools and communities across the nation. The Court held, in a 5-to-4 vote, that children illegally in the United States have the same right to a free public education as American citizens.

No the "real winners" are the ones stealing $10,000+ per year per illegal alien "student", from US taxpayers (US citizens and legal immigrants). US taxpayers are the losers, as usual.

In this case how so? The article mentions that they wanted to find out how much was being spent on illegals. That was it.

Of course Liberals invent laws/rules where none currently exist and barred the count from taking place.

I’m in PA and hear about it every year. Parents are warned and offered examples of these horrible malefactors who try to fudge their addresses to get their kids a better education.

They better not dare publish information about illegal aliens...however we do need to threaten AIG execs who receive bonus pay with the publishing of their names.

What...I say what...has this country become?

Schools cannot ask the citizenship status of their students making it impossible to get an accurate count.

Illegal aliens are “people” under the Constitution and are protected by that document.
