Can the US military ask your citizenship? The Department of Motor Vehicles? The Social Security Administration?
FYI: In this particular case, the privacy of the students would be protected and no action would be taken against them. As a taxpayer, I would like to know what illegal aliens are costing. What are my rights?
” prohibited by federal law from seeking a count of how many illegal immigrants are in the county school system.”
are they prohibited from counting them for the unemployment figures??
The Supreme Courts decision in Plyler v. Doe, 457 U.S. 202 (1982), said only that children may not be denied education on the basis of their immigration status. Subsequently, a 1997 district court case (League of United Latin American Citizens v. Wilson, 997 F.Supp. 1244 (C.D. Cal. 1997)) declared unconstitutional a provision in Californias Proposition 187 that required schools to verify the status of schoolchildren because the Court found that the intent of the requirement was to deny the students access to a public education. Presumably, a state or local government could inquire about legal status for another, constitutional reason (such as to seek federal reimbursement).
Your rights are to shut up and pay up. Other than that, you don’t have any. I think everyone who is unemployed now and lost their health insurance should claim to be an illegal. Freebies galore.
Ping!
Couldn't have said it better.
Nice to have allies!
job security. 99.9% of student population illegals.
“asking immigration status might discourage some parents from enrolling their children in schools....”
ummmmmmmmmmmmm......GOOD!!!
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
That's it in a nutshell.
Precisely. If they can't take a head count to let us know how many illegals we are footing the bill for, then they also shouldn't be allowed to count them for federal funding.
Not only that, but, we had to provide a birth certificate, social security number and proof that all shots were up to date.
Parents need to only prove that the children are up to date on their shots and show proof that they ive within the school district. To prove that you live in the school district you can use a rental agreement, bill from a utitility comparny, or a bill from a land line phone - not cell. The bill must be sent to a street address, not a box number. Any proof must be less than 60 days old
All of these things are easily attainable without being a citizen. Schools do not have the authority to determine citizenship. Nor do we want schools to have that authority.
