Members of Congress heard testimony against the activist group ACORN on Thursday, exposing the group's illegal activity and mafia-style tactics.
Pittsburgh lawyer Heather Heidelbaugh appeared before the a House Judiciary subcommittee alleging that the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) has violated campaign finance and tax laws in addition to their protest-for-hire and coerced donations. The source of the accusations was from the sworn testimony of ACORN whistleblower Anita MonCrief, who was a clerk for ACORN's sister organization called Project Vote.
MonCrief, a Democrat and Obama supporter, testified last year that Barack Obama's campaign gave Project Vote a "donor list" of people who had contributed the maximum amount allowed by federal law. According to Heidelbaugh's testimony, the donors were to be targeted to donate to ACORN's "Get Out the Vote" efforts and finance voter registration drives.
Heidelbaugh revealed in her testimony that there is virtually no separation between ACORN and Project Vote, as employees working for one group would perform work for the other.

Big deal. Many Congressman hold office because of ACORN’s illegal activities, so I doubt if they’ll do much about it.
They need RICCO’ed this worthless bunch of Marxist cretins.
This investigation brought to you by John Conyers dog and pony shows and self enrichment foundation.
Nice dog and pony show, but I suspect they'll get to keep their money
Yup.
After Congress does either a: NOTHING or b: fines Acorn 1/4 million or something small, Acorn’s name will be clean and these investigations will have shown that. Utterly guaranteed. Then the leaders of Acorn will come out and say “We are happy to cooperate with Congress. We have reviewed our procedures and are happy to say that we have made the changes requested and will continue our traditional goals of supporting candidates we believe support our communities”.
Of course they will keep their money. But if America gets the attention of Congress, their hands will be tied and they will have to act. If we act, Congressmen will be in a race to the microphones to be the first one to denounce ACORN.
Yes they are funded with your tax dollars. ACORN Housing (one of hundreds of ACORN groups) gets millions in federal funds which they funnel to ACORN.
Yes.
Our mobbed-up congress will politely listen and then politely sweep it under the rug. If anyone ever asks about it they’ll cry “Well we HAD hearings”!
Could well be. ACORN would happily pay $250,000 to keep in business. That way the monkey is off both Congress’ and ACORN’s backs.
One thing’s for sure: if we do nothing, neither will Congress.
Right. Conyers previously stuck up for ACORN when the FBI was investigating them for voter fraud. Neither Conyers nor Nadler will do anything. Republicans won’t stick their necks out because the beautiful design of ACORN makes it to where if ACORN is questioned, you are a racist and an oppressor.
The “low- and moderate-income workers” ACORN employs are Human Shields!
Yes I believe it was-and we wonder why the Republican party is in such sad shape. The idiots are funding with taxpayers dollars groups that detest conservatives, free enterprise, and so forth. Talk about a party that is self-destructing.
Agreed. Nothing to see here...move on...
ACORN invited to ‘help’ with the upcoming census.
Since when do laws and rules mean anything to these criminals? They can do whatever they want, because they are fighting "da Man".
Agreed. And now that they have even more money, our country will never see a halfway legit election again. How many llegal votes can you muster up with the stimulus dollars they are getting?
Here in the modern world you would think that they could put all the relevant info out on the internet for the people to judge. The problem is what they deem to be “sensitive” like who paid off who.
ACORN should be proseccuted for any number of federal or state criminal activities including those concerning the RICO laws, money laundering and funding activities, obstruction of justice, mail fraud, voter fraud, and a whole host of illegal activities. Patrick Fitzgerald needs to be appointed as a special prosecutor to look into these allegations many of which I believe are true and obvious to any reasonable minded person.
Thing that sticks out to me is that when I break the law, I am punished. ACORN repeatedly breaks laws and avoids any repercussions.
They owe millions in taxes, but Congress gives them millions of OUR $.
They have protection rackets, but no one goes after them.
They break tax laws by electing democrats... who cares.
They register millions of fraudulent voters, all I hear is crickets.
But if I drive ONE mile over the speed limit, I get a ticket.
