Arnold on politics, a "Terminator" film and going independent: "I can do anything I want"
Memphis Commercial Appeal ^ | 3/27/9 | Carla Marinucci, Chronicle Political Writer

Posted on 03/27/2009 8:17:38 AM PDT by SmithL

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger stopped by The Chronicle this week and made it clear his future is wide open.

Asked if he has taken a position to ''never again'' run for political office, the Republican governor told us that if he can finish the job by delivering on tough issues like the state budget, the water supply and then environment, then ''I think I can do anything I want.''

But one thing he won't do -- even in light of his current friendly relationship with Democratic President Obama and harsh criticism the state GOP is leveling his way -- is to register as an independent.

"I never thought about it. I have no interest in it," he said. "I am a proud Republican....I just happen to be in the center in the Republican Party, because I always feel that's where the action is.''

Besides, "I would never do that favor to my wife," he laughed. ''Anything for my wife, but that favor would not happen.''

Schwarzenegger talked up his next possible political move, his thoughts about "Terminator 5,'' and more following an editorial board session at The Chronicle Thursday, where he arrived with state Assembly Speaker Karen Bass, D-Baldwin Vista; state Senator David Cogdill, R-Modesto, and state Assembly Minority Leader Mike Villines, R-Fresno.

With California's Republican and Democratic legislative leaders at his side, the governor pushed his support of six budget-related initiatives, Props. 1A through 1F that will be put before voters in a May 19 special election. Schwarzenegger says the measures, which include a spending cap and rainy day fund, are critical to the state's financial future.

Following a Chronicle story last weekend about speculation on the governor's future after his term ends in 2010, Schwarzenegger has been asked several times this week about a possible run for...Senate

Ahnold announces that after his term is up he will not run for any other office. All I can say is YES THERE IS A GOD! Maybe he’ll retire to the country and take up knitting and basket weaving so Maria and the Kennedys can boss him around some more.

If he were in the center of the Republican Party I could live with it, but he isn’t. Even here in California he is about as left-wing as you can get and still pretend to be Republican.

Hell, he isn’t even in the center of the Hollywood Republican Party.........

Ahnold announces that after his term is up he will not run for any other office. All I can say is YES THERE IS A GOD!

Remember, when he was running for office (both times) he swore up and down that he would never raise taxes except in the case of an emergency like a major earthquake, etc.

The only emergency California is facing is the one wrought by the Republipukes and Democraps in the state legislature and the lying, two-faced politician in the Governor's office.

“Terminator 5”?

Naw! How about “Total Recall 2”, Arnold, where the plot reveals that your character Quaid was actually the asshole Hauser all along...

Should have added: ...and you wouldn’t even have to try to act the part...

Terminator 4 is coming out this May and will not star Arnold, who is being replaced with younger look-alike Roland Kickinger (playing the part of the T-800 Arnie played in the first film). Kickinger also played young Arnold in the made-for-TV biopic "See Arnold Run", about Arnold's career from bodybuilder to candidate for Governor.

There are rumors that real Arnie filmed about a 2 minute cameo for the new Terminator 4 when he visited the set, though.

A few months ago, Arnie lambasted Obama as a guy with "skinny legs," "scrawny little arms" and socialist ideas. This past Thursday, he was hugging him and praising him as the nation's economic savior and reformer.
