African AIDS experts voice support for Pope on condoms
More than a week after the media attacked Pope Benedict XVI for his comments on condoms and AIDS, CNA is still hearing from experts around the world who support Benedicts evaluation of the African AIDS epidemic. Dr. Filippo Ciantia, a Ugandan specialist in tropical medicine, along with eight other experts says that his experience resonates with the Popes statement.
On Thursday, CNA received a letter from Dr. Filippo Ciantia, a representative of the Association of Volunteers in International Service and a former USAID policy advisor on HIV/AIDS, along with 8 other Ugandan social and health workers in support of the Pope.
"We are social and health workers committed to [fighting] AIDS since the beginning of the epidemic in Uganda. Our experience indicates that what the Pope said is realistic, reasonable and scientifically sound."

This can’t be. Political correctness dictates that the Pope is an old man who isn’t “with it”. The Pope isn’t up on all the “safe sex” techniques. The Pope wouldn’t know what to do with a condom. The Pope thinks gay means happy and carefree.
How can an AIDS expert agree with a Pope who has dissed the use of condoms? What is this world coming to?????
Do some research... start by reading the article.
Public school?
The Pope is a measured and very deliberate man. Like what he has to say, or not, he doesn’t strike me as the kind of guy who would wander out on a limb and then saw it off.
His remarks in this instance were not from an ethical or moral standpoint. This time, he was talking about actual science. I don’t think condoms have improved so drastically from the time when I would have had an interest in them to prevent the transmission of the virus. They break, are incorrectly applied, and EVEN IF you get everything right, the virus is smaller than the perforations found in the normal material in use.
If everyone needs the media and the recent “experts” to tell them what to think, then I guess this is a waste of my time, but just do the research, read, read, read, read, read and then use your brain to make your own decisions.
Since much of the african aids epidemic is apparently a fraud to get more medical funding into africa, I would say that the pope is correct in saying that condoms will not help the aids epidemic in africa.
