I have another brand on my tires. They come in different tire pressure levels. Mine are 35 PSI. I discovered a slow leak in one tire that kept showing an under-inflation. I gave the tire a spray down with soapy water, and found a metal spike in the tire.

Since I fixed the tire, all four tires have been on the money for months. Rarely do I have to inflate them. Having the tire checks, I always have an instant check on their levels.

With apologies to Monty and Crew . . .

And St. Ahnold raised the tire inflator up on high, saying, “O Lord, bless this Thy inflator that with it Thou mayest blow Thine tires to the proper pressure, in Thy mercy.”

(snip)

And the Lord spake, saying, “First shalt thou pump up the volume, then shalt thou count to 45, no more, no less.

Forty-five shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be 45. Forty-six shalt thou not count, neither count thou 44, excepting that thou then proceed to 45.

Fifty is right out. Once the number 45, being the 45th number, be reached, then removest thou thy Holy Tire Inflator of the Resource Board to thy toolbox, while the motorist, now being legal in my sight, shall pay up.”

Amen.

What next? slicker windshields..

and Yes, it is silliness, to the point they have made it both an art and eerily symptomatic of an imaginary eco-”mandate” (aka eco-madness) more than a few sign on to gladly.

the answer to all our ails, Mr. Political Blobocrat, look within.. ya bloomin’ idiots!

They have a one-star rating at Amazon. Lots of failures cited.

The better systems have a sensor “banded” into the “well” of the wheel (the narrowest section when you have the tire off) .. all of the systems use radio (RF) signals to a display unit inside the car ,, the wheel is metal , the tire contains metal fabric , the car is metal and if you have your windows tinted they may be metal coated also ,, the failures are mostly signal failures... very similar systems are offered on new cars (and the same aftermarket companies manufacture those systems) and they work fine... I don’t have such a system yet but I’d never put those tell-tales on my valvestems ,, I don’t want a flat because I rubbed a curb.

*********************************************************
I just checked Amazon ,, the Hella system is rated 5 stars , the “orange electronics” system is not rated ,,, where’s the 1 star? I trust Tirerack , they are real professionals and are THE tire supplier to the SCCA , they don’t sell bad stuff ....

Sorry, I screwed up. I was citing the TireMinder of post 9.

Personally, I'd prefer a system that worked off the acoustics of the tire. Harder to calibrate, but dead reliable.

Misdirection....

If you worry and fret over the pressure of your tires, there will be less time to worry about the death of California

I suppose the CHP will carry tire guages and check your tires if they stop you and issue a citation if your tires are under-inflated... and no, I’m not joking..

Well, the state has to raise funds somehow. Why not tire pressure scofflaws?

requiring auto repair shops to check tire pressure every time drivers bring in their vehicle for maintenance, oil changes and smog tests.

Yet another unfunded mandate. Who is going to pay for the repair shop's time?

well the conservative did fight the car laws, we kicked out grey davis as governor, mainly over his car tax increase. that lead to his recall.

However the Republican party got in the way, and pushed for shwartznegger over the conservative McClintock. now arnold has jacked up the car tax (he did cancel davis’s car tax increase his first day in office as promised, five years ago) But now the tax is back, will go higher and he pushed these stupid global warming laws on use, that is arnold touch all over.

so much for the conservatives, we were Highjacked by the Calif Republican party, the most wrothless party I can think of, they cursed california by nominating arnold.
