Obama Health Nominee Pays $7,000 in Back Taxes: Yet another Obama nominee reveals tax troubles

Health and Human Services nominee Kathleen Sebelius recently corrected three years of tax returns and paid more than $7,000 in back taxes after finding "unintentional errors" — the latest tax troubles for an Obama administration nominee.

The Kansas governor explained the changes to senators in a letter dated Tuesday that the administration released. She said they involved charitable contributions, the sale of a home and business expenses.

Sebelius said she filed the amended returns as soon as the errors were discovered by an accountant she hired to scrub her taxes in preparation for her confirmation hearings. She and her husband, Gary, a federal magistrate judge in Kansas, paid a total of $7,040 in back taxes and $878 in interest to amend returns from 2005-2007.

Don’t worry, Governor, you’re a Dem. Dems don’t get penalties. Just ask our boss at the IRS—Mr. Geithner.

My ex-girlfriend’s parents were the biggest leftsts you could find— members of Amnesty International— the whole bit. But come tax time, they were cheating on their taxes like crazy.

I have found thru the years that many liberal friends were terrible hypocrites. I think the problem is, they know how OTHER people should be. They’re fine with themselves, it’s the rest of us who need fixing.

To Exist. Your ex-girlfriend’s parents were not members of Amnesty International. They were members of Taxpayers Amnesty International, or the Tax Resisters League.

You should have reported them after you broke up with the girl. Revenge is sweet.

People in KS don’t mind. Somehow ol’ Bob Dole, compromiser that he was, looks better with the passage of time, considering the voting habits of Kansans.

If this were a real Nation, the DNC could be tried under RICO act based on the number of members engaged in similar criminal activity. But, then you would have to have a Justice Department that wasn’t part of the problem.

IF (and I mean "if") it emerges that EVERYONE has a tax problem, then at some point we will have to question whether the tax code is impossible to perfectly comply with.

True, the Geithners and Daschles of the world knew what they were doing, but the Sebeliuses and others may have made unintentional mistakes due to the complexity of the tax code.

Still, that's no reason to not pound the Democrats when they run afoul of the tax code, for several reasons:

1. The Democrats ALWAYS pound Republicans over "family values" issues when a Republican strays.

2. Democrats are all about taxing the "Rich" and offenders of "sin": tax smokers to pay for health care, tax snack foods to pay for obesity, tax luxury items to pay for whatever...

3. Just as how Democrats attack Republicans when they stray from "family values," Republicans MUST attack Democrats when they have tax problems. It's time to finish off Charlie Rangel... make an issue of where his ethics investigation is. Ask why Sarah Palin is inundated with ethics investigations while Rangel's languishes in Committee.

This is the perfect area for a counter-attack against the Democrats.

Obama should just engage in reverse vetting.

All dems who do NOT have a tax problem (if such an animal exists) should come forward to form a pool from which he can then select.

This should narrow the choices somewhat, save the time and energy of letting them fall one by one, and expose the dems for the lying hypocrites they are. Three birds with one stone.

You know, I was a single day late in paying some of my business taxes (I pay estimated monthly), was just a thing of forgetting to walk over to the bank and make the deposit. Well, I get a late fee notice, yes a 1 day 10% penalty late fee. It was more than the aforementioned had to pay in penalties on stuff over “X” amount of years....the statement literally said “You payment was due on “the 18th and you did not pay until “the 19th” so you have a 10% fine that is required to be paid”...needless to say I paid. That fee was more that I make in 2 days, stupid me for forgetting it.

*If this were a real Nation*

If this were a real nation, half of these goons and about 90% of criminals and Hollywood “stars” [Bill Maher] would get the Mussolini treatment.

Step down, Sibelius. Daschle will be very disappointed if you don’t.

Wow - different rules for the average man.

I always wondered how anyone could be a Democrat. Now I understand - it is a license to cheat. You get to be “generous” with someone else’s money and not pay your own taxes at the same time. Double savings!
